Meanwhile, at Warmoth: another sweepstakes!

Awhh good I was hoping a member would win! Stoked for ya. Dam Warmoth now I want a VIP and my girlfriend will think I have a serious problem if I just buy it. If I won it then at least I could be like "look at that, now I have no choice but to do another build".  :laughing7:

Not a problem. Just lie about 'winning' it.  :laughing11:

Congratulations!!!

Actually, I'm glad I don't won because if I did, I would have had to order a neck too, ruining my economic plans for my next Warmoth strat  :toothy12:

Thanks again, everybody!

I'm struggling with what headstock style to get.

I prefer 6-inline headstocks but feel that the VIP body style sort of demands a 3+3 headstock style.

So, I'm torn between a Warhead and Warmoth neck.

Also, what are the thoughts on using Purpleheart for the neck since I'm having it finished in Purple Dye/Transparent Purple?

I would advise against purpleheart for three reasons:

1. It's heavy as hell.

2.  It stands a very good chance of being a shade of purple that will clash with your dyejob.

3.  It can brown with age, and not necessarily in a way that favors your aesthetic vision.

If you were going all-natural instead of dyeing the top, I might harbor other opinions as to 2 and 3, supra.

Don't forget about the Vortex neck. It's my favorite 3+3 headstock that we make. I prefer it to the Warmoth because of the symmetry of the tuners.

Isn't this among the straighter string pulls of the 3x3's?

THIS and congrats!

+1 for the Vortex. Second choice would be the Warmoth but there are other body styles that would support the Warmoth asymmetrical look better.

Get whatever neck you want and a matching headstock  :headbang1:

Cederick, I was thinking matching headstock too!

Aaron, does Warmoth do guitar neck peghead veneer on any wood or only specific woods?

I am thinking a curly maple veneer on a Canary/Indian Rosewood Warhead neck and having the curly maple dyed Purple like the body.

Headstock veneers are only available in certain woods, but figured Maple is one of them. If you are into matching the headstock to the body you need to talk to a sales person now to have that arranged. The best possible match will come from having them both painted at the same time.

Is Canary a wood they can put a quilted maple veneer on?

I think Canary is possible, but you will have to give the Warmoth sales guys a call to find out for sure. It will depend in large part on which neck you choose. Tiltback headstocks like the Vortex and Warmoth have more veneer options because the entire headstock surface is flat. Straight headstocks have fewer options because of the curved surface next to the nut.
