*** Unofficial Warmoth "ROCK Like an Egyptian" Giveaway! ***

Thanks for the congrats everybody, and thanks to Great Ape for making this awesome work of art.  I just found out about an hour ago (I had earplugs in most of the day at work while I drove a street sweeper).  I don't own a smart phone, and I hadn't checked this thread in awhile (because I just assumed I wouldn't win).  I was planning my next build and I knew it was going to have a Goncalo Alves/Ebony neck and probably a Bare Knuclke Rebel Yell Humbucker.  I have 9 Warmoths that are all strats and and are all 50's and 60's basic strat finishes.  This is going to be a new experience for me and I'll probably take a while to figure out what I'm going to do with this build.

Now the fun begins, eh? Looking forward to seeing how you go with it.

I am confused, but I'm open to suggestions.  I'll probably stay with the Goncalo/Ebony neck.  Most people would probably put a heavily figured type of neck on this (like the new Chechen), but I've never been into that style of neck.  As to the hardware, pickup colors, and fretboard inlays, I just don't know.  I also have to get to Guitar Center and try out a neck with 1 5/8 nut width.  All of my strats have 1 11/16, but I was thinking about the 1 5/8 on my next build.

Several of us here has been advocating gold hardware. Would be in line with the egyptian theme I think.

But what ever you decide, I'm sure it will be awesome.

Well, on nut width, I really don't see why change if it's working, but I  agree, try before buy, seems small change but sometimes it's not.

I think either gold or black hardware will work, but as the body has lots of golden yellow, I think black would be the ticket.
Body is already very detailed, so I would say black covers on pickups.

Inlays, perhaps none...

I'm in the gold camp. There really isn't any gold on it and the ancients were big on gold.

As to the neck, I'd put something simple on it. Nothing that would compete with the body for your attention. Roasted maple with either an ebony or roasted maple fretboard. Or all ebony or wenge. At any rate, nothing flashy or with a lot of fancy grain patterns.

Whatever you decide, it'll be spectacular.

I am dead on with Fernando on this one!
That is exactly how I would do it...
Hang on Mr. Wizard cuz your gonna get a whole lot of opinions coming your way.
Plus, a whole lotta fun...
:rock-on:

I just looked through this thread and realized that only 67 people were in the contest.  I saw the pages for this topic getting into the 20's and I figured I had no chance of winning (especially since all you had to do to enter was post in this thread).  I'll probably stick with inlays. Even though I've played for 27 years, I once played a guitar with no inlays and I found myself getting lost.  I may go with a Dimarzio Gravity Storm in the bridge and a PAF Pro in the neck.  Dimarzio has a lot of color options for their humbuckers, so that will come in useful for this build.  They also have plenty of humbuckers with gold pole pieces which might look good with this body.

Congratulations Wizard!! Take your time and don't be bullied by all the ''recommendations'' you're gonna get for your build (I said YOUR BUILD, dig?). You've got plenty of time to think about it, 'cause it's still in the stages of finishing, so it's not gonna ship for a while yet...

Dude, I was just going to say this.  Well at least the part about ignoring all the "recommendations".

Exactly. Everyone over here had some sort of idea what he was going to do if he won that body, and a lot of the ideas posted were very valid, but in the end there's just one guy who will live with that guitar the rest of his years, so don't go for a hardware finish you actually hate or a certain fretboard wood just because someone else claimed it matched some element of the body so nicely.

And now, it's off to see The Wizard...hope you enjoy it, and of course you've gotta feed us 'in progress' pics.

Woohoo! So awesome.

I'm sure I speak for all of us here on the forum that we definitely need to see images of this beautiful guitar getting completed.
And once again, congratulations to the win, Wizard

Cool.  I have all my Warmoth neck and hardware arriving tomorrow.  I'm still waiting on pickups because I had to custom order some Dimarzios from the Axe Palace.
