Maybe it's time to move

My friend started going bald at 20.  He's 26 now and it's really starting to get thin on the top.  Be glad you're not him.

my grand father was BALD at 30! probably earlier. my brother inherited that gene and is basically bald at 27. im 26 and have a lot more hair than my brother but my forehead is huge! it always was even when i was a kid but i can see my widows peak thinning and my hair line is receding a bit. i don't have the bald spot in the back of my head yet so that's good. when it gets a little worse ill cut it all off like i had it in the military.

Maybe not. There are a lot of factors involved with male pattern baldness, geneology being a major, but not isolated one. And I misspoke myself - it's not the mother's father, it's the mother's grandfather.

There's been a great deal of research on MPB; if you're worried about it, you may want to to at least review the wiki page.

Your father is a poor indicator of what's going to happen with your hair. Oddly enough, the baldness gene for men passes along maternally. If you want to see what your hair might turn out like in later years, look at your mother's father. It's not 100%, but it's as good a predictor as exists.

That was the indicator that I knew of too.  I should be in decent shape then.  Superlizard, I used to listen to RATM alot when I was younger, but I also prefer Led Zep, Pink Floyd, among others.  Bill cracked me up because he was running a test on the PA system, and he was playing Bombtrack, and it was hillariously unappropriate given the taste of all the suits and ties running around there.  With my mother's grandfather I still should be in decent shape.  My dad is bald as all getout, one brother is getting there, and the oldest brother, balding with longer hair.  I hope I get to keep my hair for a while.

Same thing here. It's sad, but I'm trying to accept it and move on.  :laughing7:

I started finding gray hairs before I was out of high school :icon_biggrin: they don't seem to be taking over quite yet though

i worked with a guy who was grey at 14 or so he says. and i mean completely grey

It happens. Maybe not to that extreme, but I had a buddy who was about 70% grey by the time he was 25 or so.

I don't really care, period. Me and my brothers had pretty much resigned ourselves to being bald when we were little kids, since we figured we'd follow our dad's pattern. As it has worked out, we've all ended up with receding hairlines instead, which sorta give you hope, but can't be made to look good. So, we've all reverted to slightly long military haircuts where it doesn't matter if you have hair or not.

I've always heard that too.  However, my mother's father and brother were bald by highschool and my mother has female pattern baldness.  My hair type and thinning (or lack of) has mirrored my father's verbatim.

Male pattern baldness only manifests a few ways. Essentially, your hair falls out over time and doesn't grow back. That yours would appear to progress the same way your father's has is no surprise. Besides, coincidence is not correlation, and correlation is not causation. The lawyers would say "facts not in evidence". The surprise would be if yours didn't fall out the same way, assuming you're going bald as a result of MPB.

Okay.  :icon_scratch:  Again, not following my mother's father.

I read the first, middle, and end of this thread and it started off with wanting to move, then it was about stereotypes, now about baldness...I am not even going back to see how it took this last turn.

I like turtles!
