Maple Thunderbird? - Research

I'm gonna misquote this but I'll try anyway. "It's better to have high end that you need to dial out, than to not have enough High end even maxed out." I'm terribley misquoting that.

I like to think of high end as articulation. Maybe some fret clang too, which can be cool in the right setting.

As far as I know I've only heard Maple bodied basses as Spectors and Alembics, which typically have active electronics and very clear and clean sounds. I know when Pantera was playing, their bassist used Spectors which were all maple and some kind of laminates in the neck.
He got the major grindage! His sig bass was somewhat similar to a stumpy T-Bird.

What I'm trying to say is that with the pickups you've chosen you should get a strong and bright tone from the maple body and wenge neck. I view this as a good thing!
