Mahogany Mooncaster Bass

After playing a few gigs with the Mahogany Mooncaster, I decided the 32" scale wasn't working for me ergonomically.  I'm short-armed and the reach to first position was a little too much.  So, I ordered up a roasted maple/roasted maple 30" neck that was on the Warmoth in-stock page.  It certainly doesn't have the dramatic visual that the bound ebony has, but I really like the way it plays - and sounds.  I'm trying to decide whether to keep the 32" neck or sell it.  If I keep it, I'll have to build another bass for it.  :laughing7:  If anyone is interested in buying, feel free to reach out to me.

I like the new configuration as much. Curious, if the 32 didn’t work for you, why keep it for another build?

Oh wait, I see what you are doing, as long as you keep it, you’ll have to transition it to a new build.  Perpetual new builds.

Your secret is safe with me.  :occasion14::occasion14:

I think a G4 body with the longer upper horn would bring first position closer to me with the bass strapped on.  Oh, and perpetual new builds too.  :toothy10:

didn't you get a truss rod cover in a plastic pouch with your neck? I got one with mine, or are you looking for one to match?

Yes, I have the truss rod cover that came with the neck.  I was going to try to find something matching or unique, then kind of forgot about it.

Oooooohhhhhh.  You've got gas.  Ya, that happens sometimes.  I've got 30" necks on my mooncaster basses.  Yup, I get it.

It just so happens there's a short scale RSA that is just dying for a trans finish of some kind.  Trans red over RSA is amazing, although trans blue?  Or vintage tint?

Haha - yes, I have been eyeing that body, and imagining it with a big single pickup like a Rio Grande Muy Grande Superbucker or a Music Man style, and vintage tint.  Or just leave it unfinished and burnish it.

After giving it some more thought, I don't need to start another project at this point, so the bound 32" neck is definitely for sale.  I put an ad on the Gear for Sale or Trade forum.
