LPB Tele Deluxe (Plus Neck!)

i feel like i've been waiting for this body for months and months! FINALLY got my sale body today. a Lake Placid Blue Telecaster Deluxe body. i know LPB isn't for everybody, but i absolutely love the color, and have always loved telecaster deluxe's. kind of the power house of the telecaster family. i played a few MIM '72 Deluxe Reissues and couldn't find one that i absolutely fell in love with (although i was literally standing in line with a model in shoreline gold, which was awesome. a limited run of 200 or 250, but i decided against it). thanks to the warmoth sale i could make this happen!

so i woke up this morning to find not just the body, but my pickups too! both in one day. too bad the neck will still be a week or more away. hopefully before the new year. anywho, not only did i get a body, pickguard, and pickups, but banjomikez (from ebay) threw in a crapload of bumper stickers too!  :icon_biggrin:  call me a 5 year old, but i do love me some stickers.

and he threw in a bottle opener and string winder. both good to have around!

also received my headstock decal. don't worry, i won't try to pass this thing off as a fender to anybody who asks. but i wanted a truly classic feel to go along with the completely custom look (if that makes any sense  :icon_scratch: ). i think i definitely found it with the classic lake placid blue and the zebra pickups.

the pickups had to be custom ordered from seymour duncan because they don't stock black and white reverse zebra pickups unless a dealer requests them. even though they were custom ordered it still only took a couple weeks! and man i think they look awesome with the black/white/black pickguard. the rest of the pictures!

man, i love this color!

anyway, quick question; is the pickguard supposed to fit the neck pocket? i know i can easily sand the pickguard away from the neck pocket, but i don't want to risk not being able to return it if i could just order a new one that would fit perfectly. i've sanded pickguards down before, so thats no problem. but it seems strange to have a pickguard this far off.

anyway, great job warmoth  :icon_thumright:  i don't think i could be happier with this one! can't wait for the neck!

EDIT: completely forgot. the pickups are the JB /Jazz combination. i've never had seymour duncans in a guitar before, and i heard great things about this combo. can't wait to try it out

Is that a strat heel shape on the pickguard, but a tele pocket on the guitar? Some of the Tele variants used Strat necks so there might be some confusion.

no, all tele deluxes have a strat neck pocket. the pocket on the pickguard is just slightly more narrow than the neck pocket on the body. oh well, a little bit of very fine sanding and nobody will ever know!

I didn't even have to read the text of the post to tell that you got those pups from 'banjomikez'.  The freebies are a dead giveaway.

I haven't had any issues with him, it's where I've gotten all of my Dimarzio stuff (for others unfortunately) over the last year. :laughing7:

What the hell, I never got a bottle opener, a string winder or most importantly, a crapload of stickers with anything I bought for my guitar. I feel so ripped off.

Oh, nice guitar.

I got a couple of Warmoths stickers with my sale neck and body.  I can send them to you if you want. :icon_biggrin:

alder body. definitely looking forward to trying these pickups out! should have the body wired and ready to go before the neck even gets here, actually  :icon_biggrin:  then it'll literally just be bolting on the neck, installing tuners, and stringing the thing up!

not yet, they're on the way with the neck. which should be here the 29th (i believe). for now i've got to finish soldering and figure out how i'm going to cram all that wiring into the small body routes  :sad1:

sweet! I like the LPB. I'll be building a Tele deluxe next summer hopefully

since i'm doing a whole lot of nothing waiting for the neck, i figured i'd dig up the build that really inspired this one. NOT MINE obviously, but just showing off what sold me on the lake placid blue.

i love the whole look! everything except the single coil in the bridge  :icon_biggrin:  but thats just me. mine doesn't have binding, but besides that detail this guitar really convinced me that LPB was the way to go for a tele deluxe (or custom, if you so desired).

here's the link. great warmoth build! http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaster-discussion-forum/133207-lake-placid-blue-72-custom-style-build.html

the neck is in! i'm really surprised by how much flame there is, especially on the back! the description said "bonus flame" but wow! didn't expect it to jump out at me quite like this.

then there was the debate i was having over electrosocket, football, or square plate for the input jack.

and the cat couldn't care less  :dontknow:

anyway, i'm thinking the square plate. i love the look of the electrosocket, but don't know if it's worth the hassle on this build.

How's the preliminary fit on the Electrosocket?  It's like ferrules, you just have to remove some of the finish inside the hole and it fits right in.

Catnip laced soap bubbles.  I got a bottle in a prepackaged cat Christmas stocking.  Fun stuff.  :evil4:

Get the cat a toy, and use the square plate.... :icon_thumright:

One cat owner to another, and =CB= can vouch for this, cats rarely play with toys that are bought.  They love garbage.  Foil ball, a rubber band, a string, an empty 35mm film canister, the part you peel off of a milk jug.

Thats an awesome set of stickers mate...and that bottle opener??? I gotta have one! Oh yeah, the tele looks great too!  :occasion14:
