Like we needed a reason to boycott them...

...did you know Guitar Center is owned by Bain Capital???

Yes. They were bought out back in 2005. They probably wouldn't still be in business otherwise. As it is, they haven't made money in the last 5 years, for reasons that are obvious to everyone but them, apparently.

Certainly not getting political, but one presidential nominee already owns a guitar chain retail store that has companies do one offs for his stores only.

You might want to check your "facts" - they're way off.

What facts am I supposed to check?
1.) Who the presidential nominee is?
2.) Who owns Bain Capital?
3.) What does Bain Capital own?
4.) Which companies have Guitar Center only exclusives?

Those would be some good starting points.

I will warn you ahead of time, though - you're not going to be happy with what you find. The facts not only don't support your conjecture, they conclusively prove the opposite. In spite of how you feel about certain situations, mean ol' Mr. Reality is a hard taskmaster.

Deferred compensation?
I agree with Cagey.

Removed other items as they are too political in nature.
STDC, you may want to investigate the same discretion.

Really? Well that's me out of their stores forever then. I mean, after what that guy did to Batman...

Honestly, I don't know why anyone posted after this.  The thread was won.

I really have a love/hate relationship with large corporations, and specifically large retail chains.
I wish I could afford to boycott them and buy from small/mainstreet retail businesses instead.

companies like bain should really be the anti-Christ to all small businesses.. they are the reason why all the small retail businesses disappeared! or at least made it impossible for them to compete and still make a profit.

Actually, I think all the smart small guys went away from bricks and mortar stores and just went on-line.  for example:  strings and beyond.  Excellent quality, fast shipping, low prices.  Blows everyone else away - even shipping up to Canada.

On Line is the new Mail Order.  I predict that in all segments of the retail market, mail order will make a big come back as the big stores collapse under their own weight.  Then, like eatons 100 years ago, the mail order guys will start having small catalog stores where you can order something and have it shipped to the store - where you can return it if it's not what you expect.  It's a pattern and I think it will repeat again.  Look out Best Buy and Wallmart - here it comes!

That's what Carvin does.  They only have 2 retail outlets, and have always been criticized for being mail order.  Now everyone has mail order, online order.

I've known that idiot's company has owned GC for months.  I simply visit GC, play their gear, and then purchase elsewhere like Musician's Friend or somewhere.

I won't give a cent to that traitor.  Nope, I don't eat at Burger King, Dunkin' Donuts, or Domino's Pizza, I don't shop at Staples, Sports Authority, Toys R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, Brookstone, or Guitar Center, buy Sealy products (just bought a new bed...NOT Sealy), I don't watch The Weather Channel or Clear Channel, go to AMC Theaters to watch movies, buy music from Warner Music Group, , buy D&M audio products (Denon, Marantz) or advertise on DoubleClick.

That is all.

Give money to Musician's Friend instead of GC.  Good plan.

It is!  What's wrong with Musician's Friend?  I couldn't be happier with the service I've gotten from them.  I had a few issues in the past with gear and they've been great about returns and/or replacements.
