KNS 6-String, Semi-Recessed Wilkinson

I drilled some holes! 😁 Aaron-approved oversized strap buttons and Schaller locking tuners have been installed. I also received the Lollar El Rayo humbuckers. Went with the "F-Spaced" bridge version. I might even use my custom Scab Pickens truss rod cover on this one. Here are some pics of a rough mock up just to give an idea what the finished guitar will be looking like. I'm really liking it so far. Now if I could only talk myself into breaking out the soldering iron one of these days. Time and motivation have both been hard to come by lately.

I wasn’t sure how a KNS would look without indulging in the typical metal/shredder tropes of black hardware, exposed bobbins, etc. This is gorgeous. Reads as something EBMM might do, an evolution of the Sabre or something.

Looking great! As an aside, how would you say your hair is looking these days?

Me, either! This was an experiment, for sure. As soon as I saw this body style released I figured it would probably appeal mostly to the shredder/chugger type player. But, I wanted to do something a little different. I'm imagining this as my "surf music" guitar ;).

Thanks, Spud! 😁
I buzzed my hair down to nothing last summer during the relentless heat and humidity. Been growing ever since. Just getting to that in between point now where it feels like someone is constantly inserting small lightweight objects into my ears. I'll probably buzz it down again when the heat hits. I had a pretty gnarly "homeless look" beard going on through the winter, but knocked that down a week or so ago. For me, the hair is either all growing or all going. I'm way past the point of trying to be at all stylish. I appreciate the concern for my follicles 😂.

I'll be very interested in how that semi-recessed Wilkinsen turns out (how much pull-up you get).
*edge of seat*

From the pic, it looks like the rout is still botched. From a decade ago:

Will wait to see Scab's strung up.

Interesting. I just took a look at mine after reading through the thread you linked. Just by holding the bridge in place with the studs screwed in all the way, there is pretty much no way there will be any pull up possible. The baseplate pretty much makes contact with the body. I have going for me 1) no .720 mod, 2) I like a fairly high action, 3) I prefer the saddles as low as possible. Hopefully these things combined will allow the studs to be raised enough, allowing the bridge to function as I hope. Time will tell, and I will keep you updated. Thanks for bringing this up. It was something I had not noticed yet. It does make me wonder why the route isn't extended a bit more towards the studs. Hmmm ...
