Hey Greg,

I don't know if it's ok for me to post this topic but I am always interested in a new find.

This guy is in Canada and he can smoke the fretboard but has tone and feeling as well.

I bought both of his cd's and they are both excellent.

Here is is website      http://stephanedufour.com/en/index.html

I wonder if he's any relation to Antoine Dufour - another Canadian guitar virtuoso.

Except Antoine's weapon of choice is an acoustic...

I haven't listened to any of Stephane's new stuff, but he wrote some great songs when he was in a band called Saints and Sinners ... with the old lead singer of a band called Sword.

Unfortunately for them, their album came out in the early/mid 90's when anything in the way of hair-rock (good or bad) was starting to disappear.

There's a Saints and Sinners video I found once on Youtube.  If you're into that style its worth checking out.

He sounds like a mix of Nuno B, Satriani and Greg Howe.  :icon_thumright:

wikipedia has no entry on stephane dufour (at least not in english), although it does on antoine dufour (who is a killer killer guitar player) so who knows if there is any relation.

@ 5w-30:

I think this is an entirely appropriate thread  :icon_thumright:

This is some of his newer stuff

He's Eric Lapointe's guitarist :headbang:

Living in Quebec myself I kinda look up to this guy.

Here's a couple Eric Lapointe's song where Stephane Dufour is playing:

Yeah that guy's got some serious chops. Personally, I find a lot of Eric Lapointe's music to be sorta cheesy, but Dufour can really shred. ExaN might be the only other guy on here who knows what I'm talking about, but IMO, the original version of "Bobépine," by Plume Latraverse, is way better than Lapointe's.  Qui ça!?! Bobépine!  :headbang:

I think he left Eric Lapointe and has his own band now.
Check his website @      http://stephanedufour.com/en/index.html

Yeah, not much a fan of Eric Lapointe, his guitar player on the other hand :headbang: (the "I look up to this guy" part was targeting Stephane Dufour :p)

Here is a new clip of Dufour on Canadian tv show playing The Mexican
from his new cd 3271
