Jack's Excellent $100 Build - "Jack White Special"

Looks great but I'd lose the output jack cover, and the slice of pickguard. There's got to be a way to go more ghetto and replace them with something homemade

Staples? It's hard to get more ghetto than what he's got already...  :laughing7:

Might do that eventually; don't have a lot of time to work on this right now; work is a bitch until around the end of Oct.

This weekend I have to try to shoot sanding sealer lightly enough as not to make that undiluted black dye concentrate melt/run all over the place, need to get at least a few coats on so I can mount the tuners/neck and see how ridiculous the action is going to be and if I need to do any neck pocket surgery.

Awesome - the dye on the neck looks like you took a black sharpie and colored it in by hand...

Under normal circumstances, this would be a bad thing; in this particular case, however: awesome.  :laughing7:

Oh Jack, this is a freaking classic!

I bet this will sound like a dog's fart after a meal of chilli beans......(plenty of snarling displeasure)

It's ALIVE.......   I had to put 9 quarters under the bridge to get the action up playable, does that $2.25 count against the total? Just shot 4 coats of Deft Satin on the neck over the dye and called it good enough for a $100 guitar...
Sounds pretty bad ass, but those $12 tuners truly suck.

that bridge... bad ass...

I need to just...

it.

I'm speechless.

I'm just going to start posting the Jodie Foster Contact Picture... every time Words escape me.

from now on.

Since I had to use the quarters on the bridge, decided to wrap some black electrical tape around it, continues the unintended "Frankenstein" theme and may help the body from further cracking... :headbang1: I may replace that piece of pickguard with one of those clear green school protractor deals that has the different sized holes in them.

love it...glad to see my coment is taking on a mind of it own!  Still much more classy than EVH.

Id say keep the pickguard, think the protractor, although would give even more of a frankenstein theme to it i guess, just think keeping the pickguard keeps the "could've been a good looking guitar eons ago" to me, which this guitar seems to give off to me to be honest.

Without the tape on the body, the guitar would have a habit of blending in with the decking floor...... :icon_biggrin:

Doesn't sound half bad tho. :icon_thumright:

Final cost basis, near as I can figure (did I use a 1/4 can of Deft Satin lacquer on the neck?) is $91.25, that includes the quarters shimmying up the bridge.
