It's Here! And Yes, It Will Have A Floyd

One 500K pot is ok, but two of them in parallel are going to present a 250K load when they're both rolled all the way up, less at any other point. The opposite will happen with your caps - since they're in parallel, they'll add. So, instead of a .047 and a .022, you'll have a .069 - definitely a major high frequency sink, and probably not useful.

The thing to do is bite the bullet and buy another pickguard that doesn't have the third unnecessary pothole.

a .047uf rolled down about halfway should be close to a .022uf.

I'm not sure where on earth you got that info? :icon_scratch:
They cut different frequencies, but if anything, I'd be inclined to say that a 0.22uF directly in the circuit is approximate to a 0.47uF about half way in the circuit.

I've never seen anyone want two master tone controls before? (And I've drawn well over 100 custom wiring diagrams on TalkBass.) :dontknow:
As Cagey mentioned, the capacitor values will add up in parallel, but that will only happen when you use them together.
Provided you have one all the way up, that will place a large resistance between it and the signal, so it won't have as much effect in the circuit.

Honestly, I would just do something like a varitone. You could either do a rotary switch to select from various capacitor values, or, just have a simple push/pull pot to select between two values.

I have 2 suggestions..

1.. Fender 250k no load tone pots.. invisible when at 10 !!

2.. 1 Tonestyler tone pot and don't fit the 2nd.

:cool01:

If i might make a suggestion

thats actually a really cool idea. i hate push/pulls (all the ones i've ever tried to use have just felt cheap to me) but a rotary tone would be really cool. it looks like stewmac doesn't carry their old 5 and 6 position rotary switches anymore. (EDIT: finally found them). maybe i'll go master volume / master tone (rotary or regular) / killswitch. i liked the killswitch on my BFG a lot and used it all the time.

and i really like the white pickups! but i think i'd go with a cream pickguard. i already have a black super distortion and one black singlecoil (can change the singlecoil's cover easy enough though). i think black pickups on a cream pickguard would be really cool too. i might even be ordering a black pearl pickguard :icon_biggrin: i'll have to play around with it for a while. lots of possibilities with this green, which is nice because i was afraid it might be one of those always-awkward sort of colors

today was the first day that wasn't about 101° or more here, so i decided to take a couple more test-neck shots... this neck came off of my squier 51, so i thought i'd see how i liked the look with a maple neck and a strat headstock. not bad, but i think i still like the idea of the big banana headstock more. any thoughts?

Black single ply pick guard and all black hardware would be a winner.  :icon_thumright:

The only way to get that MORE 80's is adding a white or cream single Humbucker on bridge... Than use the spandex pink trousers... :P

Reverse Jackson headstock FTW!  :icon_biggrin:

Looks good with the standard strat one too, don't think you could go wrong actually... how about a black pickguard and all black hardware??

Looks pretty good to me.  :icon_thumright:

that charvel looks great! i was thinking maple neck, ebony board, maybe a creme pickguard but most likely singleply flat black or black/white/black gloss, and chrome hardware. i've never been a huge fan of black hardware. looks like it's time for some more kisekae guitar building!

semi-update. since i still haven't ordered the neck there's nothing exciting to be said :icon_biggrin: BUT i did get yet another mock-up together. i found a nice to-scale drawing of the headstock i want and cut it out to see if the guitar would fit in the case i want to use. it will (just barely, and hopefully the headstock really is this exact shape).

however, i think Death by Uberschall has convinced me that a maple neck is the way to go! both with that charvel picture, and his flame maple soloist. i think i'm going to go with a flame maple neck, instead of the ebony board i had been thinking about before. anyway, here are a couple pictures of the kramer style headstock (both reverse, and regular)

I VOTE MAPLE NECK W/REVERSE HS!!! They just look COOL!!!
