It's Here! And Yes, It Will Have A Floyd

thanks for all the replies! i'm thinking a nice ebony board would really set this thing off. not normally a big fan of black hardware, but RU36 might be on to something with that...

anyway, i had an old Charvette (Charvel's version of Squier) neck laying around that i had forgotten about. i call these the "Real Mockups" :icon_biggrin:

first, the picture as it was in all it's random-color goodness

then with a black headstock

and green headstock (accidentally put a line through the body when i was painting things and didn't notice  )

i'm still thinking a KWS headstock for the time being. and i'm really not a fan of reverse headstocks, but the george lynch ESP kamikaze guitars are starting to change my mind on that... the only guitar i ever owned with a reverse headstock was an ibanez and i absolutely hated it. felt so wrong with the tuning pegs on the bottom instead of the top. any idea if having the headstock one way or the other would affect neck dive? seems like a reverse would dive more, but maybe not. it's still going to be the same weight whether the tuners are above or below the headstock

cream pickguard, nickel humbucker, chrome floyd, rosewood fingerboard, matching green headstock or a black gloss headstock.

+1 for the cream pickguard, green + yellow will look nice.

AWESOME! i think i really like the chrome hardware on there. the black fine tuners kind of give it a little black accent. and i'm really loving that headstock... any chance you could put a reverse headstock on there? i've saved that picture but can't figure out for the life of me how to mirror the headstock so i can see a reverse

Stand on your head and look at your monitor.... :icon_biggrin:

Consider pau ferro for the board.

I've just ordered that for mine because i hear such great things.. brighter than rosewood but warmer than maple  :icon_biggrin: Plus it doesn't need finishing so I can round the board edges myself  :headbang1:

As for a headstock.. try a reverse Strat shape.. i think they look awesome on a superstrat.  :rock-on:

:laughing7: reversed lettering and all. it's not pretty, but it's the best i got!

i really thought i'd be going with a maple headstock without even questioning it, but after thinking about it i think i'll definitely be going with something else. now just to decide what exactly that non-maple fretboard will be. i really shouldn't be up at 4 am trying to decide, but looking at guitar parts is what i do when i can't sleep!

oh, and i really do kind of like it with the cream pickguard i have right now. cream might be a cool option other than black/white/black. definitely something to think about...

Stick with black against that body colour.,.. lovely.

try photoshop a reverse Strat headstock, that'll look awesome  :guitarplayer2:

How about a Ziricote fretboard? Those have been kinda growing on me as of late... And I don't know why, but purely from an aesthetic viewpoint I think a non-angled headstock
would 'look' better (and George's Kami's are straight, BTW) - if you're getting a W Pro neck - truss rod adjustment shouldn't be any harder with a straight vs. angled due
to the fact you're adjusting it via the allen screw at the base of the neck.

i swear i think i spend more time on kisekae's guitar builder than anything else on this computer... BUT

reverse headstock, ziricote fingerboard. once i figured out how to use warmoth's custom fingerboards with kisekae i played with that for a while.

I was right, that looks fantastic  :guitarplayer2:  :guitarplayer2:

i'm not sold on the reverse strat headstock at all, but it definitely grows on you a little bit... i don't absolutely hate it anymore, but it still just screams "nuno!" to me :icon_biggrin:

oh, and i forgot to add to this whole thing... for the knobs i was thinking a master volume, one tone pot with maybe a .022uf, and another tone with a .047uf. does that work out alright? i'm worried that with essentially 2 master tones i'd be losing some high end when they're rolled all the way up to 10. would it still be nice and bright? probably going with 500k pots. i just feel like 2 different master tones would give me a wide variety of sounds. might be a dumb idea though, since a .047uf rolled down about halfway should be close to a .022uf. is my information there correct? i don't know what else i would do with the extra knob if i just went master volume / master tone. if anybody has any ideas i'd love to hear them.
