UPDATE!: Seymour Duncan Screamin' Demon on it's way from eBay :icon_biggrin: i'm excited! it's a boring black humbucker, but i think i'll like that look. and if i don't like the look i have 2 SD nickel covers that i can use.

now i just need a good neck pickup. thinking about sticking with the single coil theme of the dimarzio noiseless pickups. any other suggestions? i thought about trying a lace single, but i don't know how many different brands i want to mix all in one guitar :laughing7:

and a black pickguard on it's way from the W that should be here tuesday.

I wouldn't know a good pickup if it jumped up and bit me in the arse, so I would believe.  I like EMGs afterall.  Anywho, I've owned a Screamin' Demon and was very dissapointed.  Could've been the guitar it was in, could've been the amp it was going through, could've been me.  It never sounded good by itself and it was really tough to get it to blend well with another pickup.

i'll be disappointed if thats the case, but i got a decent deal. so i'll just try to sell them for what i payed and try something else (possibly an air norton).

I have it in one of my stolen guitars (so I guess I should say had) and it's a nice pickup. Basically a lower mid focused, slightly higher output PAF style.

BTW, George Lynch likes it so it must be good.  :laughing7:

sounds good! i'm looking for something that'll blend well with the single coils, so i don't want a seriously overpowering humbucker. sounds great! and like i said, if it's not for me i'll be disappointed, but i'll try to sell it for what i payed and see what else is out there (maybe a p-rails if this isn't what i'm looking for)

got the pickguard today. pickup should be arriving soon, and now i have to decide if it's covered or not. being a lynch-inspired strat i feel like it should be, but i might try it uncovered for a while then cover it later on. anyway i need a neck pickup, neck, and bridge now. along with random parts and screws and things :icon_biggrin: getting there!

NOTE: the guitar's true color is MUCH closer to the bottom picture, which i really like. definitely a "pea green" sort of color

maybe i'll save the covered look for my next project :icon_biggrin: i love his GL-56 though. which is where i got the idea. that, plus the fact that i have 2 extra nickel covers and no pickups to put them on

and i was thinking about going with warmoth's warhead headstock, but i'm not a fan of the ones they have in the showcase, and it'll be a $45 upcharge to have one made. which is disappointing since i love the look, but i guess i'll just stick with the boring old strat headstock :-\ max made a pretty cool side-by-side of the warhead and his GL-56's headstock and they're much closer than i would have thought at first. definitely tempting to get the warhead!

Seymour Duncan Cool Rails. I have a couple paired against some high output humbuckers and they are really nice.

My first suggestion would be EMG's for the active route...

But seeing as you're doin' passive, I too was going to suggest Cool Rails, DbU beat me to it. :)

so warmoth told me they would not route the neck pickup to be a telecaster neck pickup on a strat pickguard, so i got one of these! i'm excited. it'll be a little strange because unfortunately they don't seem to make these pickup rings in plastic, only metal. i don't know if i'm a big fan of that but i will definitely find out. so this means most likely a dimarzio area t neck pickup to go with the virtual solo middle pickup. still wondering what i should do about the bridge pickup (even though i already have the screamin demon)

EDIT: guess i should take a few more pictures of the thing since i pretty much cleared out my Flickr photo account! i'll take a few when the pickup ring gets here
