Really enjoyed playing it at a store a bit from here. Wife was looking at some other shops and came back by, seeing me playing it through the front window. She smiled and shook her head no. Then I held up the price tag so she could see it.
She promptly came in, took me by the hand and led me away LOL.

Over lunch we discussed it, and with other upcoming expenses, we agreed that now is not the time. What was neat is when timing and resources are there, she is totally open to this, or even a build from someone in the likes of Cornerstone or McKnight. (She fell in love with a McKnight build I showed her earlier in the week).

I loved it, as I did the other McPhersons  I have played in the past.  A true balance in tone and projection. Not 4X better than my Breedlove, but easily 2X better.  And my Breedlove easily holds its own against anything in the fancy room of a GC. Once we get to the level of McPhersons, Goodalls, Collings, etc, its a totally different game.
Have never understood someone laying down money for a top series Taylor, Martin, etc (nothing against Taylor, Martin, etc.) when they are so close to the next level.

But an update - just sent initial communication for a commission build to 2 luthiers, Cornerstone and McKnight. If I am going to look at $5800 acoustics, I need to consider custom/commissioned builds starting in the 6-7K range.

If I get rich and can retire, I want to learn to build acoustics like this!

Never realized I responded with an update.
I purchased an even better sounding acoustic.

Got a Kona made Goodall Jumbo Concert.

The new price tag on this Goodall is certainly north of the McP I posted, but got it used for certainly less than the McP. Still doesn't cure my gas to commission a McKnight build.

I think I posted a pic of it in a different thread somewhere here.
Either way, next week is hectic, after that I hope to take some new pics as well as new guitar family pics. My current one is missing 2 of them, and being that they are my #1s, I certainly need to update.
