I am assuming you want to dull the chrome rather than convert it.
You could dull them using a scouring pad with a mix of vinegar and water.
Another method is dipping into hydrochloric, otherwise known as muriatic acid, though this obviously may be the less safe way of going about it for casual use.
We could got to the fact that a lot of chrome is only applied after a nickel plating (not sure if that’s the case. Ow, it seemed to be std 3 decades ago).
Doesn’t Matter as I don’t know how to remove chrome without a potential underlying plating.
Nickel tends to not be as bright with a bit more yellow/grey tones.
I’d get an extra set (or a single as possible) and experiment. I’d scuff it up with a high grit. Then looking at the color, see if some stains might impact it.
In case anyone missed it, I gave the answer in post 2 above.
Both nickel and chromium are individual chemical elements, so unless you want to get into nuclear transmutation or alchemy, you literally cannot convert nickel to chrome.

While this is technically correct, the chrome could easily be removed down to the core metal because its a very thin coating. Then send those out for nickel plating. So not a direct "conversion" it can be done.

Thanks for the responses. Correct I need a ring that fits a TV Jones universal mount which is Filtertron sized. I do have two, they came in a set and I only need one. I might try scuffing it first and seeing how that looks. Would be easier buy one in nickel if y’all have a source!
