Instead of a raffle

I had chosen to delete that post shortly after posting, because I don't want to keep this thread going and give more fuel to feed the fire.
This post will be my last in this thread.

You were asked to stop by Max, and you acted clueless about what you were doing.
I point out the fact that you know exactly what you are doing, so now you change the subject to whether or not I'm agreeing with Hannaugh.
I don't play games with people, so I'm done with this thread.

Since you've singled me out... again:   :icon_biggrin:

Look, I find it offensive that someone would actually try to change/add to our current raffle format (based entirely on chance, which is 100% fair)
to something that isn't fair and easily corruptible (it reeks of attempting to better the odds).  If someone's gonna pee on my leg
and then ask me if it's raining, I'm damn sure not gonna say "yes".

And like it or not, other people have voiced similar views on the matter... they don't like the idea either.

As far as your recent questioning, I also find it offensive that you and Max show Hannaugh preferential treatment - it's blatantly obvious you gave
her a complete pass on her last post (I also know that you didn't even bother to consider her reasoning behind the suggestion - i.e. "why in
the world would someone want to change/add to a completely fair process?").  For me, her attitude in said post just proves what
I was suspecting all along... that's not the attitude of someone who sincerely wants to offer a new suggestion; it's the attitude of
someone who had a scheme and didn't like the fact that not everyone wanted to go for it.

Having no bias means you measure everyone with the same stick... everyone.

And you may not like my opinions, but hell at least I'm honest and unbiased.  If I say I like something, then I actually like it, not "I'll say I like it
because I want to kiss your ass".

That being said, I've changed my mind:  I'm all for the contest.  It will be a very interesting experiment.  Let's see how it turns out, shall we?

why do you keep repeating this idea, when she already clarified herself about it at least once?

Quoted again, with yellow/bold hilights:

I don't get the whole "if you don't like it, you don't have to participate" attitude because this would in effect replace the drawing which I did participate in and was looking forward to again.  I don't, and shouldn't, feel out of line for voicing a dissenting opinion.

Hannaugh said she meant it more as a separate event, not effecting the raffle. it was a bit badly named.

well SL - - I'll ignore the "change" part since it's not highlighted and therefore unimportant and not needed in the first place. But what do you mean by "add to" and why would it have anything to do with the current format since we know that it has nothing to do with it? I believe there was some confusion caused by the thread title, but that was cleared up and you like to keep dwelling on it for some reason.

Heck for all we know the raffle and contest will happen at the same time and all the people participating in the contest won't participate in the raffle and it'll actually help YOUR odds, SL. I really don't mean to offend anyone but I can't see how this could upset anyone. Nobody's said anything to imply removing the raffle. Let's get that straight and it's not fair (everyone's favorite word) to assume that this contest will be made to take over the raffle in any way. We all need to chill on the assuming people are out to get us bit.

The first raffle was riddled with nay sayers but in the end worked out. This is an interesting concept although I will be passing on it. The one thing I don't see happening is generating enough money. the raffle works because people are willing to drop $50 on it, I think you may be hard pressed to sell spots for $50 and if it is $10 then you will need to sell a whole lotta spots.

To Hannuagh

What you need to do is just start a thread and list the rules and people will either join or not. I am sure the people of this board will have enough respect to leave that thread alone and voice any opposition they may have in this thread.

Good Luck

That's a misconception:  I've never actually entered any of these raffles/popularity contests (I have voted... for GOTM), nor do I plan to.  Therefore I
have nothing to personally gain nor lose by voting either way on this thread's particular suggestion.

For myself, I'm fine with saving up the clams for a new guitar (and the next one, and the one after heheh).

For others, I think the current raffle (random pick) is a fair way of allowing members (who may not have a ton of $$$ laying around) the opportunity
to realize their guitar goals/dreams.  But I'm not about to shed tears for those who lost said raffle and then complain that it's not "fair"... and then
try to change the method in which one wins... or the like.

^ everybody catch what this guy's saying?

This thread's beginning to get ugly and personal... it needn't.

Hannaughs idea is a good one, and came from her heart.  In case you dont know it - she has a lot of heart for this place.

I think she deserves some support, ideas, a helping hand, making it work, making the details suitable.  I dont think she deserves the thinly veiled backbiting that is seeming to grow daily in this thread.

Just my 2c....

While I feel your sentiments on that, I think that Hannaugh came off equally as aggressive and personal as anyone else involved. Maybe she didn't mean to, but I felt like she got ugly about it as soon as people said they didn't like the idea. And that provoked some other people to say "Hey, f*** you. I have a right to voice my opinion." and then someone pulled a knife. and someone else pulled out a gun. and then somebody ran someone else over with a Hummer. and. well. it got carried away
