I see some roasted maple necks have shown up in the Showcase:

I see that 'No Finish' is among the options for these necks. Does anyone know if the warranty still applies for a roasted Maple neck with no finish?

I think the warranty would apply. No Finish, is an option to have it sent with no finish so that you can do it yourself.

The woods that don't need a finish don't give an option. But will say if a finish is not required.

That is a beaut!! There are a few of them in there. I wish had a few hundy laying around, I'd get one. Maybe this means we could special order one in the future!?!

I'm curious how that changes the chemistry enough to warrant not requiring a finish: is there something they coat it with prior to the kiln that bakes in?  It seems to me that a kiln or oven cranked up is only going to dry out the wood even more, and not add anything to stabilize the finish.  But IANAC/P/A/WBTG*

Maybe more deets from tha' Big W?

Maybe cane sugar for grain filler and brush on some melted butter?

They smell like maple syrup. Seriously.

I have a roasted Maple fretboard on a Gibson Melody Maker. Only good thing about it. Be interesting to have a whole neck made of it.
