For those that might wonder, yes, the threaded inserts are slightly offset. The back of the guitar has a round over and I wanted the bolts to be on the flat part.
To make the control cavity, I first made some templates from MDF. I got about half way down, but didn’t want to rush it. The rest of the way I can just use the cavity itself as the template. Going with a solderless electronics solution. Last night I took about an hour to carve a belly cut. Very satisfying. Just a rasp, a file and some sandpaper.

If you are going to do something, might as well make it more difficult. The body was still a little heavy, so I added lightness by subtraction. Final body weight is 5.2 lbs.
