Hurricane Harvey

So far it hasn't been too bad in our part of the Houston-metro; mostly sustained winds ~20mph with gusts to near 40mph and some heavy rain at times. At the moment (0730), all is calm here (just some light rain) and the streets/yards have had some time to drain a bit - our Tax Day floods (April 16) were the highest water we've seen since we bought our house in 2009; we can use the domed center of our demi-cul-de-sac as a gauge.

Pic I'm seeing of Houston here lately, shows a good bit underwater..Hope you're still safe down there David.

Houston is my wife's hometown; I have friends and in-laws being affected by this catastrophic event. In the gear for sale/trade section, I have a thread for selling a chunk of my Warmoth collection; ALL collected proceeds will be forwarded to flood relief aid through trustworthy organizations. (My wife has her people on the ground there that I intend to check with to make sure funds go where they'll make the greatest impact.) So if ya like Warmoth stuff, and wanna help me help out our in-need East Texas neighbors, swing on by and check out what I have to offer.

Day-mun, I'm sorry to hear that.

We didn't take on any water, but about 2 miles south some friends near S. Mayde Creek had to be rescued by boat. Stores are slowly starting to open and I'll be going back to work on Tuesday (assuming there's a clear route).

Day-Mun, what a fine thing you're doing. Hope your friends and in-laws are doing OK.

Philosopher, glad to hear things are improving for you.

I feel for all the people affected by the hurricane. It'll be a while before things approach 'normal'.
