Switch holes for Soloist body a little to small

I have a Dimarzio 5 way Super Switch for my Soloist body. After wiring it up and trying to install it in the body, it looks like the 2 screw holes on either side of the switch are just a tiny bit too small for the screws to drop in.
What's the safe way to enlarge them so I don't screw up the way cool Cinder Red paint?
Drill? Reamer? From the back to front or front to back?

I would try a round needle nose file using only controlled one direction push strokes from the top down, try to avoid paint chipping around the bores.

I used a chamfer bit first, to cut the paint a tiny bit away from the holes. Then I used an old-timey hand crank drill to very slowly increase the size of the hole (from the front).
No paint cracking, and the screws went right in! Something else that happened was when the DiMarzio super switch was installed, it had trouble going all the way into position 5 (neck pickup). It was that the blade of the switch was hitting the end of the slot before it engaged fully. Insted of making the slot slightly bigger, I dremeled the blade of the switch a bit so it wouldn't hit up against the end of the slot.
