if i want something *like* this :

http://spokane.craigslist.org/msg/984655344.html

ie a tele with a humbucker on the neck and a single coil on the bridge. but i want a belly cut - that's non-negotiable for me.

looks like this pickguard will work : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=270325326873

i would love to use this body : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=190278998870

because it has a belly cut, humbucker route at the neck (and also the bridge) and looks like i can get it used and in mint condition for something like $150 (on an average) on ebay.

but looking at the existing holes for the bridge it doesn't look like the standard tele bridge would fit in there.

even if it were to fit, would the bridge and pickguard sync in well with the humbucker route at the bridge?

i know i can get a customized body from warmoth for my specs - but i'm looking for a budget, all purpose (at whatever level) guitar which i can take around etc.

appreciate some ideas.

which part about it do you want?
At warmoth you want to order a tele with a tummy cut, they do that, and have them route it with whatever style you want, which looks like a humbucker in the neck and a

for the bridge. and for the pickguard you give them an idea and they can do it.

Warmoth can bassically replicate that body if you tell them the right specs.
tell them you want a tele with a tummy cut and so forth

guys ofcourse i know that warmoth can make me the tele body i want. but as i noted i'm looking for a budget guitar now - i can't afford to spend 300 bucks plus on a warmoth body when i can get something on ebay for half that amount. i have to buy a conversion neck for this from warmoth - so that's the only thing i cannot compromise on, in this project. the rest i am going to buy used/cheap wherever i can find it. so i need to know how i can get the tele body with humbucker routing (as in the link) to be a tele with a neck humbucker and a traditional tele bridge single coil.

How about this, and have Warmoth rout the neck pickup cavity for a humbucker free of charge. It's a new, quality body at a very reasonable price vs the perils of eBay. Just a thought!

An alder body with whatever route you want, plus the tummy cut, is like 175. Cheaper if you get poplar or basswood. You just need to finish it yourself. And the cheaper woods aren't even any more expensive on the new website.

Regarding the eBay body, it looks like it has the standard tele bridge holes to me.  However, the screw holes might be on the large size - you may need to dowel them.

Regarding the pickguard, you'll need a custom one for it to work, or cut one from a deluxe to make it go around the bridge.
the pickguardian does custom pickguards - I'm sure they can make one to suit given an accurate drawing.

Another issue is that the body is set for a three bolt neck and will have to be drilled for a 4 bolt neck.  Very do-able if you have a drill press and know your way around it - but If you are nervous about modifying a pickguard, you're going to be very nervous when it comes to that job.

To be completely honest I'd get a body from warmoth and finish it myself.  It's cheaper and better and you'll get exactly what you want.

Win-win.

Basically dude, none of us think buying a cheap sketchy body off ebay is better than spending a few bucks more on a Warmoth.  Especially when you know what you want so exactly.
