hopefully non-hypothetical questions

In theory, when i get the cash for it, i will bust it all to get a beautiful custom warmoth(no duh). But i have a few questions... Spoiler, the warmoth site probably answers some of these, but im stupid and miss things easily.
1. If i get a black dye with a quilt maple top, will i still be able to see the quilt clearly?
2. How would i go about ordering a peghead veneer?
3. Could i get that veneer with a black dye finish?
4. How much would this cost?
5. How could i order the neck inlay to be bones on frets 5,7,17, and 19, and a block on 12.
6. How much would that cost?

1) Quilt Maple w/ Black Dye (&natural masking)
MP210A.jpg

2 & 3 & 4) Phone or email order, or add a note to your order (knowing this is an upcharge) +$45 for quilt maple headstock veneer
Dye or Burst color on the peg face with your choice of different finish on the back. *Only necks with figured maple peg veneer and a matching body may be dyed or bursted*
Maple/Maple necks: $135.00 (Limited to Clear or Vintage Tint back & fingerboard)
Maple/nonMaple (no finish on fretboard) necks: $125.00
nonMaple/nonMaple necks $155.00
5) Phone or email order.
6) At least 90 for the inlay, possibly more.

I'm probably not the best one to answer, but if I mess any answers up, I'm sure someone will correct me.

1. If i get a black dye with a quilt maple top, will i still be able to see the quilt clearly?

I think you should but it depends on the finish that Warmoth applies.  What was suggested to me, was to either pick a showcase body close to what I wanted or provide Warmoth with a picture and then talk to the sales rep regarding how close they can match it.

2. How would i go about ordering a peghead veneer?

I believe you need to call and discuss this with them.  If can type in a message on your online order asking them to call and they will.

3. Could i get that veneer with a black dye finish?

As I understand it, you can do this provided Warmoth will be finishing the body and the veneer at the same time.  So, if it's a custom order or a unfinished body and neck from the showcase, I believe they will do it.

4. How much would this cost?

For quilted maple, it looks like the cost is $45, but that may not include finishing costs.

5. How could i order the neck inlay to be bones on frets 5,7,17, and 19, and a block on 12.

Again, you will need to talk with the sales rep, so either call them or have them call you.

6. How much would that cost?

I think the cost is $90 but you will need to confirm with the sales rep when you speak to them.

Hope this helps!!!

I have inquired about this before. Not to long ago.
Using Diamonds on the same as you have described.
Price for that on Diamonds only was $135

Reason for this ....
Standard inlays = less time
Doing less inlays = more time as it (Machine) has to be started and stopped multiple times
increasing chances of destroying neck and the associated babysitting time = $$$

But .... you want a Block at 12th as well  :icon_scratch:  think that is going to cost heaps.
As they are 2 different types of inlays.

So I'm guessing Double that price I mentioned above because it will be 2 pass overs on the mashine.
For the 2 different inlays.

But ... always best to ring / email them.

:rock-on:

Edit ... come to think of it, it might be $135 for the bones then $90 for the block at 12th fret.

Yes, that is one awesome looking guitar!!! Although, somehow a Strat with two HBs never quite looks right to me. That's despite the fact that I used to own a Fender Lead III.  In any event, it's still beautiful!

CMM, in my opion, that would be a good pic to give to Warmoth and ask if they could come close to that.

BTW...if you don't already know, Warmoth does an outstanding job on their finishes.

I was recently debating the same thing.  I was originally thinking black dye might be too dark and not show off the quilt in dingy bars so I was planning on washed black... then a few washed black bodies hit the show case that were a bit too white for my taste.. reminiscent of 80's acid washed black jeans.  Given the choice I'd rather have too dark than too light so I ordered black dye with a matching peghead and impatiently waiting.  :blob7:

Wish I knew about the suggestion of referencing a body when I ordered.  That would have been nice.  I'd much rather have Updown's finish than the one on that showcase Explorer.

BTW ..... that Black Quilt Strat was a showcase item, NOT custom built / choice.
Was High Grade Quilt thou.
Grabbed as soon as it came onto RSS feed  :icon_biggrin:

Here it is from the showcase, so you guys know what to look for.

New question, im thinking about going with a black-red-yellow burst on an explorer, and what kind of shapes do the colors make? like is it a black border, followed by like a red stripe, and the rest yellowish?(with alot of blending obviously)

Here are the ones in the showcase, for an idea.
