headstock marquetry

This another older project.  My second experience with luthiery was to customize my acoustic/electric guitar/banjo headstock with a new veneer. The design is my name (logo)= -i= mirrored and inlaid with maple into walnut veneer. There are paduak accents. All of this work was done with an xacto blade and lots of masking tape. I then roughed-up the paint of the headstock and glued the veneer directly to it and then drilled, cut, sanded and finished it.

I lose most of the image when viewed at full size. It's freaking immense. I know there's a scrollbar at the bottom of the post that would let me pan but, really, I think you'd garner more replies if you pared down the full-size image.

CTRL+- ( the minus sign ) will unzoom to smaller in most all browsers.
CRTL++ makes larger
CRTL+0 makes back to normal.

Of course this all presumes that you right click the image to open it in a new tab, which, to me, is the only way to have control
of how you view attachments.

Had I thought to do that, I could certainly have used those keyboard shortcuts; I use them pretty often to increase the font size on sites that challenge my failing eyes.

I'm actually pretty good at 3D visulization in a 2d object (trying to make myself sound smart) but I do not see Eric in it. I id'ed the cross patterns which I am assuming contains the "E" and I think I see a potential "C" but it ain't happening. :icon_scratch:

btw I LOVE your Banjitar. What outstanding work. I voted for you last month

Thanks for the kind words.  I am sorry for the obscene size of these photos. not easily able to change them with my current crappy computer and software. The camera is nice. 

The Eric in this is a mirror image of itself running vertically. When I look down, in playing position, the lower of the two mirrored images (upright it is the image on the right) is readable. If you draw the letter "E" and then remove the vertical line you are left with three horizontal lines. Removing the vertical line from the r and from the c would leave one line and two lines respectfully. The i is the only vertical line left.
