I agree. Everybody chill, relax, veg out, whatever. Have fun. Laugh. All that good stuff.

The current arrangement for GOTM seems perectly fine by me and, I suspect, by a strong (silent) majority of people here. I'm willing to bet all the dissatisfied parties have already voiced their opinion.

And like someone said in the other rules thread: the votes will show what people think is appropriate in each category. If someone's entry doesn't "fit", it won't get votes.

I'm going to stop rehashing old ideas now.  :laughing7:

But being mature persons, we should be able to discuss this sort of thing without knives and pistols being drawn.
Crap!

Luke, I completely forgot about our duel, and I'm busy for all of the other dawns until mid-November. Let's just call it a draw.

Okay, we'll call it a tie.

As other people have said, let's just have a bit more fun. There's a reason I don't plan my parties out on a strict timeline. Loosen up, sit back, enjoy the show, and let's not argue and bicker about 'ou killed 'ou.

Max I think they didn't understand the joke of what you said, followed by what I said..  :dontknow:

That being said, Thank you DMARCO, you rock.  :headbang1:

Thanks for all the feedback and kind words.

For those that did not vote, I unblinded the poll.  As you can it was split almost 50/50...which I think is the root of the issue.

I am going to continue the contest as I have been for the past year and a half, and let the final vote decide the winner...Warmoth content or not, as it has always been.

Good for you for sticking to your guns. :icon_thumright: And thanks for doing GOTM every month, despite recent whining.

Bring on the next GOTM! I hope to have something worth entering in the next year or so...  :laughing7:

I liked the rules then and I like the rules now. Bottom line is that I love looking at everyone's creations home finish or pro, it doesn't matter to me. These unique and personal builds feed my mind with endless ideas for future builds. Thanks to DMRACO for doing this every month, its something fun to look forward to and if it ain't fun anymore....

wow this thread is crazy... :icon_scratch:

instead of worrying about rules and popularity and how pretty your guitar is, why not record a solo? You know... play the thing. :laughing7:

Not that it matters much, but I want to do two things:  Thank DMRACO, who is an outstandingly reasonable guy, and clarify (for what it's worth) that my comments in the other thread about a GotM entry are not a slam on the contest that he faithfully organizes, but a commentary on what I see as a disease of elitism.  Obviously, as he's stated, that gets worked out in the voting, right?  At least to a degree.  It tickled me pink to see that beautiful lefty *painted* guitar win last month, and also this stylish super-strat this month.

I wish we could all say what we mean and have it taken in that spirit, rather than getting offended about people who disagree slightly with us.  I still think that there's a clique of what's "cool" and what's not, but it's not that big a deal.  I probably still won't enter mine, because I will never be a fan of paying a ton of money to have AAAAAAA flamed buttcheek laminated springyfoofoo wood finished by a blind monk during a period of extended fasting to the specs of Leo Fender's non-cheap long lost brother's Nitrojesus lacquer.  I make player guitars that focus on *one* aspect of the beautiful wood and don't stand out like a coffee table (generally).  I *like* painted bodies with beautiful necks.  I digress, as usual.

So, an honest, heartfelt thanks to DMRACO, one of the true good guys out there.  There's no bum-kissing here, I'm just not one for compliments on the internet, and I want to be clear.  Some of you folks who make things happen are amazing.

-Mark

hmm.... fancy flamed tops vs. granny's coffee table vs. Solid.....

Mark, I think you are a nice good looking young modern gentleman

finally, I am glad we are keeping the competition as is..
one change I would like to see is the option to vote for more than one guitar, because it is sometimes so hard to pick just one... so per example everyone can assign 3, 2 and 1 points for their top 3

having said that, this would cause a lot of extra work for DMRACO, so never mind... maybe we can do it this way for the GOTY this year...

Thanks DMRACO for all of your hard work on this. I for one really enjoy it.

I don't know what part of that sentence is the most wrong.

Well Mark went out of his way to say something nice, so I thought I should do it too!!  :icon_biggrin:

Well this thing isn't a competition and I believe no one here should feel like they're in a competition. DMRACO is just trying to solidify the Warmoth community, and I say props to him :occasion14:.

I was actually surprised that 3 people actually voted for my fiesta red Strat last month, I feel honored :toothy10:!

Mark, send Marko a picture of yourself!
I don't quite think "nice good looking young modern gentleman" describes you. :blob7:

eh, everybody is inclined to their opinion and its not my place to change that, and I already know my two cents worth aint worth nothing. The whole discussion on this subject is just really discouraging. It reeks of elitism and it was my impression that this board existed to help people. So I'll just go back to my lurking and yall can do what yall want.

Discouraging?  Elitism? :icon_scratch:

Yeah, sorry. If you base your "self-worth" aka "e-peen" on whether you win some internet forum contest or not - y'all got issues. Serious issues. Like seek professonal help immediately issues.

I thought the whole thing was supposed to be in good fun?  :dontknow:  Its not like there's money or prizes on the line. If you need validation for a guitar one builds for themselves, from others.... honestly, whats the point?

Anyways, keep it up Dmarko - thanks for the time and effort every month.

This thread should be deleted. Too many people are showing their true colors in one way or another. :dontknow:

There was discussion, opinions were given, and it didn't get ugly.  It will die on it's own.  I don't think it warrants deletion or locking.  By trying to clarify or simplify, it made it more confusing, In the end we have what we started with, which was working before.

And DMRACO, I've said it privately before, you do a great job.  Especially as a volunteer doing what seems to be a thankless job that will never please everybody.  Thanks again.
