Guess what I'm making

We have a color sample and with slight adjustments will be moving to the body!

Back with an update and I think I nailed it but what does Trevor think? The yellow is really bright like it would have been in the 50's but it should orange up real nice after a few years as the clear lacquer ages.

I happened on some very high quality photos of a vintage 56 and it shows clearly that there was no yellow under the dark color on the horn or upper bout, so I sanded it back and re-shot the top. This time I only sprayed yellow in a tear drop shape off the neck.

I bursted it today and of course it is very hard to get an accurate shot of the color but this is the burst.

Trevor wanted it to look more brown than black on the outer band and the inner band more of the reddish brown and this is the closest picture I could get of the color which I think matches very closely to the one I had reference of.

This a great shot of how transparent the dark brown is on the upper bout and how the grain filler shows through when it is under bright light.

Nice. That yellow looked a bit outrageous at first, but after the edge fade to brown it calmed right down.

Some of your best work yet.

Mayfly...must be hard to handle seeing these photos.  You must be in a constant state of excitement...if you know what I mean

The Yellow center was a good call.  More vintage correct.  And like Tonar said, it will age very well.  To contrast, here is what mine looked like with an AMBER center.

I find myself staring at the guitar a lot these days, it just keeps laying there staring back at me waiting to be rubbed out.  I start rubbing it out next Wednesday.

Very nice! You're eating Doug's lunch, though. With no neckplate to make, he's just going to be wandering around aimlessly, bumping into walls. Soon, he'll be applying for food stamps. Is that what you want?
