Gotoh 510 or String-through?

I'm in the theoretical planning stages of a new build, and while I know I want to go hardtail, I'm torn between a TOM/string-through setup and a Gotoh 510. Anyone have any pearls of wisdom on the subject, to help me choose? I don't really see any advantages or disadvantages one way or another, other than the purely aestehetic...

I love my gotoh 510....

If it is a carved top...the 510 is a must...flat top its up in the air.  Anything Strat style that has a flat top begs to have a string thru...when I say that I mean this....

just my 2 cents....

I hear what you're saying, and my gut instinct is to go with the string-through. IMO it looks very classy, and none of my current guitars are string-through (for me, a new build must have something "new" about it; I'm not looking to own 24 vintage-style Strats :laughing7:)

I'm not sure about that pattern though. My plan is to build a Jazzmaster, and I'd be worried that it would clash with the way everything on a JM body sorta slopes forward...

I vote narrow spaced flat mount....they get the job done and are easy to mount/hook up the ground wire.

Even through PRS uses a hardtail design that rests on two tiny allen screw heads on $15,000 ultra-goobery Dragon Special Custom Wazoodlers, I still have kind of this mental thing about transmitting all the string vibrations through about 1/100th of a sq. inch of metal, i.e. the two allen head screw tips. :icon_tongue: I thought surface area was a good thing...  :icon_scratch:
I have lots of mental things.  :toothy10: ~ :hello2: ~ :blob7:

Only the money issue keeps me from doing another recessed TOM/String-through build like this:

I would really like one more to have in permanent DADGAD.  :icon_thumright:

love it...that looks killer

I have a WARMOTH tele, (the 1st one I ever built back in the 90s that is always tuned to DADGAD...
