I can see your point, but to me, a headstock without a decal, inlay, whatever, looks unfinished. Headstock adornment is like a signature or artist's mark. It identifies the builder, and his/her work. I may not make my own neck or body, but I'm certainly not just assembling a kit either. I agonize over every design and aesthetic aspect if the instrument. From initial consideration of style and colors, to designing custom engravings, right on down to the to selecting just the right pickguard screws and tuner buttons, every part is thoroughly researched, and eventually hand fitted to each other before coming to life as
my guitar. My headstock decals are all original designs, custom fabricated, and deeply embedded in lacquer. It's as vital a part of the guitar as the pickups or the strings. Of course, that's just IMHO..... :glasses10:
