Gibson tosses around its weight

....there was also the part about tv shows putting tape over the logos. He acted like Gibson would be doing them a favor by "working with them" to let them use G products in their programming.
Yeah, I was rather amused when he made that point. Gibson will allow them to place their product in free advertising spots, good luck with that!

The Gibs make me so sick I'm gonna throw up my pizza ball! Love and let live (kind of). I'm selling pizza balls on my etsy page if anybody wants them

I had one of these and Shredded on my Hombre Regal so hard the strings begged for mercy. Time for a new neck! See ya Gibsonius Monk.

I wanna say it was Moonraker, but I remember a Bond flick once where they zoomed in and paused on his Seiko watch, which even as a kid I thought was kinda obvious.

Producers aren't taping over the logos to keep from infringing on G's trademarks. They tape over them because they aren't about to give G any publicity without G going through the placement process and coughing up some dough.

Whichever way the cash is flowing, it adds up to way too much of what we see being contrived. Nine Inch Nails is now selling Captain Marvel tee shirts to coincide with the actress wearing a NIN tee shirt in the movie. And you can bet that wardrobe decision was no accident, probably the result of a meeting of marketing executives. It’s detectable, and I don’t like it, and it makes me not want to participate. I don’t have cable anymore and I rarely go to the movies, and that is mostly because I feel like I’m paying for the privilege of being advertised to and propagandized at. No thanks. I’ve got arpeggios to practice.

You need to see the movie "Repo Man"  :headbang:

"c'mon kid, let's go get a drink!"

Mark Agnesi was well loved and respected when he was with Norman Rare Guitars. Then Gibson promised him the World to go work for them. Life is filled with wrong chooses.

Didn't half fancy a over sugared soda drink after watching that one.

Not 7-Up though, that's just a punchline to the Snow White joke.

Love that movie.
During the "generic" semi-fad. iirc the generic nacho chips were as good-if not better than Doritos.

I like how in the movie they take it a couple steps further with cans of "food".

Some of the most annoying product placement for me are:

How every car every movie is an Audi.
How every laptop in every movie is an Apple.
The Office episode that was shot in a Staples.
There was an episode of some show shot entirely in an Home Depot. New Girl?
I remember The Secret Life of Walter Mitty being uncomfortably riddled with product placement as well.

I find it funny that any show with a panel of judges or speakers will have  BIG cups with Coke logos on them.

Any US government hearing will have branded water bottles.

Where 20+ years ago things like that would have plain pitchers of water and plain glasses.

Obvious because it wasn't a brand you would expect Bond to wear?

The older Bond movies certainly had some amount of brand name dropping--from the type of handgun or car he would drive, to the various wine vintages, or even the brand of vermouth in his martini (I don't think he named the vodka, just that it would be Russian)--but they were all stated to show his eye for the sophisticated or the excellent.
I hated that they recently had him drinking Heineken. If he was drinking a beer from the BeNeLux countries, it would be some good Abbey Ale from Belgium, but I suspect that for beer he would have favored a good cask-conditioned bitter from the North of England.

Now, what guitar would Bond play?
I suspect it would be something like a Benedetto.

For some people having a logo on the headstock, is like having Tux with a brand name on the back.  For the good stuff you don't need it.
The old James Bond would be playing a Warmoth, kicking A and taking names.

FYI, that photo was taken during a live Second Sting performance, during the first chorus of Still Loving You.

And you can be sure I had my watch, wristbands, and all other third-party, branded products removed.  :icon_jokercolor:

I can see your point, but to me, a headstock without a decal, inlay, whatever, looks unfinished. Headstock adornment is like a signature or artist's mark. It identifies the builder, and his/her work. I may not make my own neck or body, but I'm certainly not just assembling a kit either. I agonize over every design and aesthetic aspect if the instrument. From initial consideration of style and colors, to designing custom engravings, right on down to the to selecting just the right pickguard screws and tuner buttons, every part is thoroughly researched, and eventually hand fitted to each other before coming to life as my guitar. My headstock decals are all original designs, custom fabricated, and deeply embedded in lacquer. It's as vital a part of the guitar as the pickups or the strings. Of course, that's just IMHO.....  :glasses10:

Yes, but can it be hidden under a single piece of tape?

Seriously man: give us a call. We want to work with you....
