Anyone else ever have a hard time getting pickups from GFS? I ordered a set of '64 Grey-bottoms six weeks ago, and still haven't gotten them. I've contacted sales, and their response was "just wait longer." Has this happened to anyone else?

That's weird man.. I've ordered a set of pups and other random bits from them, and they've always been quick and really helpful...  :icon_scratch:

very strange indeed. They've been quick with my order.

Hound 'em for yo' stuff! that's too long to wait.

When I got my stuff I got it in like, 4 days. And ive ordered things like 3 or 4 times from them. That seems off to me.

I would say its a fedex/ups deal.  All my dealings with GFS have been great.  They're one of my favorite new companies!

Update:

Two full months later, and still no pickups. The guy at GFS is no help either. They've confirmed my address twice, but that's it. No effort to track down my order or anything. According to their website, they have a tracking number for international orders, but I don't have one so there's not much I can do. This sucks. Just thought I'd rant a little.  :tard:

Well, that sucks! You've already tried to work it out directly with the vendor, and the shipping company i assume.
Don't let them steal from you though, there HAS to be a manager or someone who can track the shipment for you.
This is ALL about tracking the shipment

If they don't help with that...just go to your bank and file a credit/debt card dispute before too long. Some banks will only let you dispute transactions that are less than 60 days old.

Yeah when people aren't getting stuff done it's really just a matter of perseverance. Get on the phone and talk with as many people at the shipping company as you can until something happens.

Once an order of furniture from Ashley furniture didn't make it to our house on time. We'd just moved in and ordered a whole house worth of furniture, and all that showed up was 3 of 10 chairs, a couch, and half a dining room table. My mom got on the phone for 4 hours and eventually gave up. 30 minutes later the CEO of ashley furniture called her. Long story short, all our furniture showed up the next day and many people were fired.

This is sort of but not off subject. Has anyone tried their strat pickups compared to american standard pickups?

I'm surprised to hear the troubles you are having.  I order from them just last month,  Placed the order on Sunday and had it by the following Saturday.

Keep calling.

I actually got my pickups on Friday, but never got around to updating this thread. My bad. It only took one week to get them after they reshipped my order, so something obviously went wrong somewhere between their warehouse and my mail box. Now I'm just waiting for a friend who's going to help me wire them up (I'm pretty awful with a soldering iron...).

Would be hilarious if the original set (that went AWOL) showed up in the next week or so! I take it you only paid for one set?

I suppose the pickup company can claim some sort of insurance for lost in transit stuff -  or right off the lost set on their tax.

I've bought a couple sets from them with no issues, and I wrote a couple comments on a set of overwound 70s grey bottoms in my blue strat thread:

Well I'm mostly a humbucker guy and I've tried a lot of single coils, non-boutique but decent aftermarket sets from Fender Custom Shop, Seymour Duncan, Dimarzio and so on. I was looking for a little more juice than standard single coils for this project.

All told these are very punchy, and do have that overwound sound I know not everyone is a fan of. They're a little on the loud side but I'm running through an ISP Decimator (and an NS2 in the effects chain) which makes short work of those issues. But they're very clear and have sort of a modern tone as opposed to vintage. At this price point I can't recommend them enough, they suit me better than '69s (which were my favorite single coils). I don't know that they're for everyone, but at the price point I'd highly recommend then in a nice alder strat to check them out.

Sucks that you're having issues getting your order though. If it ever does work out I think you might be pleased with them.
