sn9577B.jpg

'59 contour, malagasy rosewood neck, ziricote board. the body would be sonic blue and the hardware chrome.

that neck is out of control  :headbang:

What about these pups bassists? I found em yesterday, but this might be my discovery of 2011.  A marriage between ernie ball and fender from Germany

i really like those. when i was thinking about putting together a warmoth bass a year or so ago i looked into those. BUT they were way over my price range, so i laid off them. definitely look like the p-rails of the bass world though!

That pickup looked very interesting and I was considering it, but I seriously doubt it replicates either sound perfectly.  I'm not slamming that idea or pickup, but there are tradeoffs with all purpose gadgets.  If something is dual purpose, it usually does neither well - doesn't mean it can't sound great.  It just won't sound 100% like a J of MM.  I've seen it with other pickups, humcancelling single coils and P-rails.  With the P-rails, by all accounts they sound great but not like a P-90, Strat single coil, or humbucker.  They are an approximation of each of those sounds and are close enough.  With humcancelling J pickups, something just doesn't sound the same when that 2nd coil is added.  Same with humcancelling P-90s.

what about humbuckers that are tapped to be singlecoils? I started a thread asking wether or not they are like a Prius (combining a crappy gas engine with a crappy electric one and getting a car that is crappy with both), but I got very little feedback. I suspect that they either do a good HB or a good SC, but not both. Am I right?

one man's trash is another man's treasure. Does it really matter if it sounds like this or that or the other thing? At the end of the day, like any piece of gear some people are gonna like and some people are gonna hate it. and the ones who hate it are probably gonna be the ones who have certain expectations, whereas the ones who don't will simply find what said gear does well and utilize it to the best of its ability.

Please don't misunderstand.  Like I stated, I'm sure they sound great as Delano makes great stuff.  When I look at it, I see a J-Bass and MM hybrid pickup.  I was suggesting, based on my own experience, well just reread my post.  I wasn't pissing on it.

I thought it looked nice, but when I showed it to the wife, she said it looked like "skin cancer".  :help:

I think it can be ordered.  It's probably not on the site yet as an option, but it was the same cost as having a body painted black.  Call and ask.  If it's a new super-secret option that all of the sales guys don't know of yet, tell them to ask Gregg.

Yes, you can spec the glow in the dark paint on your Warmoth body build.  :icon_thumright:

GITD sounds awesome! I hope its like neon pink/yellow/green! I didnt get to see the showcase body before it was gone :sad1:

You do realize of course if you get a GITD guitar, you're required by law to put DR Neons on it?

I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE

If GITD appeals to you, LARPing may not be a stretch either.  Posters of Dragons and blacklites are less cool in your 30s.    :icon_jokercolor:
