i saw this guy with this tele on a TV show and now i REALLY want a cherry tele with pearloid guard. this is 100% happening :icon_biggrin:

(it's weird that even just a quick camera pan over a guitarist during a TV show can spark a severe GAS attack)
 
That's an American Deluxe Tele. Those have a contoured heel and tummy cut. It looks like, on that guy's, the black barrel switch tip was replaced with a cream Strat one, and the tone knob might have been replaced with a 3-way toggle switch.

he probably noticed that the regular tele barrel knob is bulky, terrible to use, and ugly, but someone managed to not notice that the tele itself is all three as well.
 
wow good spot... i didn't notice either of those things! it looks like (from other pictures that i have) that he's just removed the knob from the tone pot. not sure why, but it's there in one picture i have, and off in all the rest. i'm not out to build a replica or anything, but i do absolutely love this look. to be honest, i'm not a huge fan of that contoured heel. seems like it would just make trying to find replacement necks a pain. i know warmoth has a section about them somewhere on their website.

my strat build has a heel like that. It WILL NOT work with a warmoth pro neck, but vintage modern and total vintage work just fine. You just have to drill one hole for the new screw location.
 
Mmmmm...I've always loved the aesthetics of the American Deluxe Tele.  That is one beautiful instrument. 

And yes, the Dr. Z's are redonkadonk.  I had the opportunity to play through a Ghia 18-watt last week and it blew my mind.

It is beautiful. If I ever get another cat, it will not be a Calico. (Beautiful but temperamental creatures) But if I do, I will have to name her Korina. Now is it Kor-AYE-nuh, or Kor-EEE-nuh? Mine has a beautiful flame errr I mean stripes in addition to the colorations.
