GAS Alert!!!!

I like the grain on #2. It's just peaceful and serene and doesn't look like it wants to warp if you look at a crosseyed.

#3 for me too, but just for the weight as I'd be covering all that weird woody looking stuff with some nice opaque paint.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to actually do a roasted swamp ash, or just swamp ash, or even straight alder.  Thanks for the input you guys.

How about roasted alder? I am thinking about that for my next one.

I'm actually thinking of something similar to what you have in your signature.

That's just swamp ash with a mixture of Wudtone and white India ink. It was almost criminally easy to apply. I'm pleased with it.

Well... Damn.  This is nice.

Yep, it is.  I've been fantasizing about a bass build and that looked so dang sexy - but I can't rationalize the expense right now, so if you want it, I won't be bummed at all to see it stay "in the family", so to speak.  I think it needs to go on this guy (screamin' deal at $320), maybe in a Musicman kinda build:

That's me. Keep thinking I want a bass, but can't rationalize it. Besides, they always end up like my Les Pauls - the reality of them isn't as satisfying as the fantasy, so they end up on the auction block having gotten little use and sucking up money for no good reason.

I've got something in the works, as usual.  No pics as yet.  Have to remedy that soon.

If you're grabbing that canary neck above, congratulations.  My canary'n'ebony Tele neck is hands-down my favorite.  So velvety smooth.

I've got a quartersawn maple with satin finish and black blocks that's "seasoning."  I bought it before the canary came up.  Doesn't mean it's not a fantastic piece and I'm not gassing for it.
