GAS Alert!!!!

Tulipwood is one of the species I don't have in my collection yet. Love that stuff. For those outside the US, be aware that it's one of the species of Rosewood under the genus Dalbergia, so if you get the urge, you may have some dealings with customs due to CITES regulations.

Just to crush everyone's dreams, there are no export permits for Tulipwood, so it will be only be able to be shipped domestically.  :binkybaby:

It might be save some grief to note that about the various Rosewoods on the builder/showcase somewhere. I imagine Cocobolo is the same way.

Sexy AF, as the kids say, and only $231:

I'm glad that's not roasted Maple - I'd have had to spend this month's grocery money.

Well, hello, gorgeous:

At first I was all:

And then I saw it's a 1 3/4" nut on a boatneck contour, and then I was all:

And then I saw that it's $542 before I add stainless frets and a nut, and now I'm all:

I love 1 3/4" nut on a 59 contour , so not much choose , 1 11/16 just OK for me , need to accept  1 11/16 for the wood or look on many case.

boatneck contour not sure , with  $767 to add finish , that rule it out for me    :dontknow:

Boatneck is awesome and not as imposing as you would think.  Still trying a 59 for my next.
FYI.  A open D/F# or A/C# is totally doable.

There is an alpine white precision with a black binding in the showcase.

There is also a quartersawn maple neck with black binding and blocks in the showcase.

I put this mockup together on a whim.

Damn.

Hard to believe a couple months ago this was just GAS.  I gotta stop posting here.  Makes me spend money.

Easiest bass design I've done so far.  Pretty much exactly as I first posted it.

Bagman, you should put that image as your signature...

Edit: speaking of GAS... Dammit Warmoth!  Yeah, I DON'T have a short scale bass.  I also don't have a hollow body.  Okay, I'm going to limit myself to one a year.  That means I may be able to do one in 2018.

Okay, so, I just HAD to check out the short scale bass necks.  Looks like my next bass will be a short scale mooncaster.  Because, I found this.  Quartersawn pau ferro.  That says yes to me in just so many ways.  :icon_thumright:  Yeah, it's mine, now.   :tard: :tard:

Gonna take a page from Cagey's book and put it away for a while.

Indeed, a beauty. And it'll be just fine in the closet until the time comes. Maybe wait for a "vintage white" body, which looks just magical paired with a Pau Ferro neck.

Nice grab! I like Kevin's suggestion, vintage white would look great with that neck. Whatever you decide, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a looker!  :icon_thumright:

You could always order it now ghotiphry? Just so it doesn't get bought before you're able to buy it...

Then you could put it together and forget that it was meant to be for next year and build one next year anyway?

That vintage white looks 'off'. Normally, it's more of a cream that matches up with the Pau better.

Yeah, I could do that.  Can't tho.  I did price out the body.  Not yet.  It would have to be a custom body.  There's not actually any in the showcase with solid colors yet.  That's just me pasting the color over the body shape in paint.net.  If you do happen to see one in the showcase... Well, we'll see.

The reason the color is off, I copied it from the color swatch.  It didn't look quite right to me either.  I copied the color from an actual guitar, and got this.  It is less green, if you ask me.
