GAS Alert!!!!

I'd like to shoot some transparent red gloss over that. It would make a gorgeous candy color.
Agreed, although I do like the matte finish, over time anywhere you constantly rub on the body, it will shine up anyway.

Have you seen any of the lastest satin finishes from Warmoth in real life? It's a different material than what we're used to. I'm sure it'll eventually get shiny spots, too, but as it sits it seems impervious to the day-to-day markings, rubbings and fingerprinting that you normally see on satin finishes. It's pretty nice. Seems kinda thick, but that could just be my imagination. I have no way of measuring, so I can't say for certain. It's just a sense of the stuff. Not that that's a Bad Thing, just an observation. In any event, it's the first satin finish I've seen that I wouldn't mind having on an instrument of my own.

They may have switched to an epoxy based or something, the older was just a matte polly, and it would shine up with a good rubbin'...

Right. An errant fingernail, pick or shirt button rub left marks, and rubs left shiny spots. I didn't care for it at all. First and last time it looked good was fresh out of the paint booth.

This video has given me inspiration for my next Warmoth strat.  I'm thinking a vintage nitro satin maple neck, aged white pickups, an aged Callahan tremolo and a silver pickguard would look good.

I'm a nerd.  I see Star Trek.  And once again I'm drawn to flame maple.  And again drawn to black/clear burst.

Now wouldn't THAT make a cool neck plate?

I gotta show this find to you guys.  And I'm sorry for the many, many posts in the GAS thread recently, but I'm still jonesing for more.

It's not a Warmoth body, and it would be my first body that's not a Warmoth (would definitely get a Warmoth neck for it, it's routed for a Fender.)  It's black walnut over sugar pine.  Chambered.  At 3.7 pounds.  I haven't pulled the trigger, but I'm thinking about it.  It looks unfinished, so it would be my first self-finished body.

I decided to let that go.  A couple reasons.  I've had such wondrous results with Warmoth bodies.  And, after looking at music man pickups, etc, it's a whole different ball game from Fender and after market Fender stuff.

PLUS, you do have a couple of guitars already in progress. Can't steal all the fun  :toothy10:
