GAS Alert!!!!

One thing you gotta grant Warmoth - they're not shy about charging for those "last, few" Les Paul bodies. I don't remember ever seeing an $800 body before, maybe Gibson is doing them a favor! :icon_thumright:

Yeah, you gotta want one pretty bad.

On the plus side, they'll sit in the Showcase longer, so it'll look to the uninitiated as though Warmoth can provide bodies like that.

I don't know... it seems like any carved-top body tends to be pretty pricey. Plus the fact that it lists the "Built to Order" price as $1,007, and the showcase price as $800 seems about right to me. I mean, don't get me wrong - that's a good chunk of $$$, but I don't feel like Warmoth is deliberately gouging anyone on their prices all of the sudden.

Besides, that quilt maple with the turquoise dye is some serious wood porn... It's extremely high-quality lumber, and a dye finish costs $220 all by itself.

I have really no reason to buy a guitar body, but there are some really, really nice ones that came out yesterday.

Of course, you'd want to order a neck with pearloid binding to match it, that would look awesome.

And this is right up my alley:

I like that the interesting part of the quilt isn't where the bridge route would be.

There's a few others that are really nice that came out today, a nice green-to-clear burst and couple of well-done V's.  Maybe I'm just feeling the urge, but if I won the lottery, there's at least 3 that I'd buy just from today.

There's no price gouging possible in a market with as many competitors, it'll just be fun to watch the prices as they count down to "the very last Warmoth LP - Ever!" And the Ebay nonsense should start up a few months later. The prices are high enough (I think...) to discourage much in the way of speculation, i.e. pick up three or four and stick 'em in the closet for a few years. But then I'm amazed that there's any market at all for "San Dimas" Charvels... yes they did a good job with screwing things together, frets etc. but what is it people are buying? :icon_scratch:

They're buying the Golden Age of Hair Metal, in the same way folks who pay top dollar for Fender and Gibson products from the '50's and '60's are paying for their nostalgia-inflammation-salve.

I'll take a Carvin or a Warmoth or a Korean or Chinese import, thanks very much.

The trick is to watch for very popular, fast rising stars with serious mental problems. The Lindsey Lohans of rock n roll. Buy up whatever pawn shop specials they're using in bulk. This will help with scarcity. Then when they off themselves, wait. Oh it's ok to sell off a couple shortly afterward, and you sort of need to keep a trickle flowing, but the goal is to wait out the 15-20 years, then sell. Bwa ha ha. Are you pondering what I'm pondering?

There's several 2+ year old threads complaining of $950+ LP carved top bodies.

Yes, very much so, however I mean it in a relative sense.  You need to maximize this variable for best chances of scoring on the buy low sell hi opportunities.

Freakin' awesome, indeed...too bad I'm too old for an Iceman....hell, I'm almost old enough for the SANDMAN!!

I'm afraid I've aged out of that body style as well. But, it is a fine piece of work.

Don't worry you guys, your not alone  :icon_biggrin:
I was trying to work out if it was a lefty or a righty  :icon_jokercolor:
Not my cuppa either. All thou the black binding is pretty sharp on that thing.

You just wait Doug, till you get older and have to start wearing glasses too ......  :toothy11:

I didn't know body styles had age limits.

I do know I wouldn't be inclined to follow them if they did.  :party07:

I've been wearing glasses and contacts all my life. I'm near sighted, no need for readers..But I agree with drewfx, didn't know body styles had age limits, they don't to me.. :icon_biggrin:

Too old for a guitar style? That's about the most silly I have read on this forum. And it is not because there is a lack of silliness around here.

How old is the Iceman-model? 35-40 years or so?

Some might be too young for that model.  :rock-on:

They sure haven't. As the first generations of metalheads grow up you will see guys in their 60's & 70's with pointy headstocks and neon pink finishes.... :party07:

Well I'll for sure have pointy headstocks, but you won't see any neon pink....Not gonna do it...

But my whole point about the Iceman, is that it's a canary top. Which is quite rare for an odd shaped body... :icon_biggrin:
