I'll have to agree with mully, rosewood is one of my least fav's.mullyman said:Why did they put rosewood on it? Rosewood is my least favorite fingerboard wood. If it was matching maple or ebony I'd buy it.

We're just spoiled here because of those crafty rascals at Warmoth. Why use rosewood when you can have ziricote or bloodwood or bubinga?
Cagey said:Took me about 25 years to get my first ebony board, too, and I'm more or less done with rosewood as well. Kinda like stainless steel frets - once you get them, there's no going back. But, I don't dislike rosewood. I just would rather something else on my guitars, given any choice in the matter.

That's funny because the complaint I usually hear is that it's waxy. I like it personally, I don't find it too dry or waxy.

I think because it's very porous that it gets to me. I like the smooth feeling of maple. Although I should say that this ebony board on the white Strat is fan-frickin'-tastic.

Most rosewood fretboards are pretty blah..And there was really only 2 reasons rosewood is more popular than maple. 1.no finish required, 2. harder than maple. The only reason Fender started using rosewood was because they noticed how much Gibson and some of the other makers were using it. I do have a neck with a quarter sawn rosewood fb that is quite attractive. But i have seen quite a few bodies topped with rosewood that are very sweet, as the one patrick showed above...Cagey said:Rosewood has just been done too many times, so you guys are sick of it.
