I'm sorry gents, are you discussing football or that elaborate game of dress ups you call football?  :laughing7:

Even all those laterals at the end of the game couldn't save dem Cowboys...   :icon_jokercolor:

SKOL!   :icon_thumright:
Well, even the fabulous weenie wrangler Bret Favre and Moss' sore fajina can get the vikes to the SuperBowl...Remember Favre has been in the NFL 20 yrs and has one Superbowl showing, most of the Cowboys line up were still in diapers 20 yrs ago when Favre started...We got plenty of time... :icon_thumright:
Brett went to the superbowl twice.  TD is the one that showed up though.
Ohhhhhhh, well excuse me, he made it twice...Well he only won one...In 20yrs....I'm impressed....NOT

I was fourteen when the Packers won SB XXXI. I grew up outside of Green Bay and watched every snap of that '96 season (I also remember the following season, and therefore, will never have many kind things to say about John Elway). That season was just as perfect as football could get. Growing up where I did and when I did gave me the chance to remember Brett Favre for what he was then, as the young gun who threw that first touchdown to Andre Rison and came off of the field aftewards with a big grin on his face and his feet about a mile off the ground. That's not the Brett we have now. He's old, rusty, grey, bitter, alledgely dirty-minded, and solely out on the field to spite Teddy Thompson, regardless of what it may cost a desperate franchise. He could very well sink Zygi's chance at getting people's hearts into the mood to approve a new stadium, and while he said he wouldn't do it, the temptation to tap into that big, thick Los Angeles market may be too much to pass up. Sadly, that's how most will remember him.

Personally, I'm happy with the way the whole thing played out when it comes to the Packers. Aaron Rodgers is a good kid who handled things like a gentleman during the whole soap opera a couple of years ago, can play just as well as the best of them, and proved that he is a lot like most sports fans when he stated that he thinks that Tony Kornheiser is an idiot.

Rodgers said Kornheiser is an idiot?  Cool, I can't stand Kornheiser either.  I agree that this whole Favre drama is the best thing that could have happened to Rodgers.  There is not that whole "playing in his shadow" especially when Favre is playing for one of their biggest rivals.

Here's the quote from one of the articles about his interview (this came out of USA Today):

"In 2008, when Tony Kornheiser was a Monday Night Football commentator for ESPN, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers once sat down with him for a pre-game production meeting.

It would be an extreme understatement to say that Rodgers came away unimpressed.

In an interview with ESPN Radio in Milwaukee, Rodgers went off on Kornheiser and said he was embarrassingly unprepared for his job.

"You know who was better than Tony Kornheiser? Dennis Miller was ten times better," Rodgers said, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. "Dennis Miller was a great comedian, but one of the worst Monday Night Football guys ever. And he was ten times better than Tony Kornheiser. His stuff was actually funny. Tony wasn't funny at all. He did absolutely no research. We'd sit in those production meetings and he would add absolutely nothing to the conversation. I'd be like, 'What are we doing here? This is stupid.'"

Rodgers praised Monday Night Football play-by-play man Mike Tirico as coming into production meetings thoroughly prepared. Kornheiser? Not so much.

"You get in there with Tony and he's asking you all these dumb questions that have no application to the game you are playing or anything you are doing," Rodgers said. "He's terrible. . . . I don't think he's funny. I don't think he's insightful. I don't think knows, really, anything about sports.""

He later stated he was sorry for bashing him publicly, but also stated that he still stands behind his personal opinion.

superbowl wins are ridiculously overrated when people talk about the "greatest of all time" in any position. especially quarterback. dan marino is the classic example. excellent quarterback, no superbowl wins. does that mean he wasn't a great quarterback? **** no it doesn't. i hate it when people bring up superbowl wins when talking about careers. you need 50+ people to win one, don't put all the weight on a single player.

+1,000,000.  That pisses me off more than anything else in the sports world.  Dan Marino is the example i always use too.  Trent Dilfer won a superbowl.  I guess he must be a greater quarterback than Marino.

HA HA HA. Trent Dilfer. That's funny. You got to feel bad for a guy that goes to the superbowl, wins, and still gets cut. :icon_biggrin: :laughing11: :laughing3: :laughing8: :laughing8:

Nice picture of some school team, no, we're talking Professional Football not Soccer.

American professional football, aka the NFL is the most popular sport in the world (by a landslide) in terms of
people that have a television and what they watch on said television, the money the sport generates, and the
sheer numbers of people that follow the game.

Soccer is the most popular in terms of what a few mates can do on a otherwise boring day, as it only requires a round ball.

Although there are some changes to that. Has anyone noticed in recent years that a LOT of that knockout Buffalo Bills team of the late 80s/early 90s is now in Canton?  Even Steve Tasker is on the ballot for this year. I guess losing four in a row can be as good as winning one in the eyes of the Hall of Fame.

The following Old Spice commericals (starring Ray Lewis - Baltimore Ravens) are undeniable proof that the NFL rules:

I Like how you think the world is America. I can tell you that in Europe, football is much much bigger in terms of revenue and people who watch tv.

Football, as in soccer, by far the most popular sport in the world, both in terms of spectating/TV viewing, and in playing terms. http://www.sportingo.com/all-sports/a11587_worlds-top-most-popular-team-sports

In addition, the World Cup is the second most watched sporting event in the world, behind only the Olympics (as a whole). Sorry, them's the facts. Whoops- Even that may be changing: http://www.cnn.com/2010/SPORT/football/07/11/world.cup.final.television/index.html

NFL essentially doesn't exist in Europe, or anywhere else in the world.

from the link you provided. "most popular" is all really subjective. in america it's right up there with the NBA (probably more popular). in the rest of the world it's not nearly so popular, but still makes the most money.

The National Football League (NFL) is the richest sporting league in the world, netting $6.2 billion annually and attracting a world-record average attendance of around 67,700.

I don't think there's mjuch subjectivity to it when in Europe, Africa, South America and parts of Asia it's the most popular sport. Seriously, there's no comparison.

On a lighter note, related to your Bret Favre dscussion gents, I saw this and it gave me a laugh, and I hope it does for you too (it could be anyone in any ball sport).
