Floyd Rose non locking tremolo

Hi! I'm thinking about doing my first Warmoth build and am wondering what is the best non locking tremolo? I saw Guthrie Govan using the non locking Floyd Rose and was curious. I know there are a ton of them out there. I don't even know if it would fit a Warmoth build. Thanks in advance for any tips, reviews, suggestions, etc.

I'm a fan of the Wilkinson VS100, but there are a number of designs that are essentially the same thing. What you want is something with a two-point knife-edge fulcrum. Once you're there, locking tuners and a well-cut nut take care of the rest. Reliable tuning and return to neutral - what's not to love?

^^^ What Cagey said! ^^^

I have one on my Vintage Icon V6-M24 with locking Grovers.... no tuning problems at all. Very affordable vibrato and quite rugged and dependable.

The Floyd Rose you mention is not actually none locking. It has no fine tuners but originally was used with a lock nut. Later the fine tuner Original Floyd Rose was introduced.

The none fine tuner version can be used without a lock nut (in fact so can the OFR)

The none fine tuner version locks the strings at the bridge, so as long as you have locking tuners, a properly cut nut there is no chance when it returns to position after usage that the strings have moved at the bridge end.

Does it fit Warmoths?

Currently, there is not a specific rout sold for it but it should fit a non-recessed Floyd rout with angled pocket. It should also work on a recessed Floyd rout, but you will have a larger recess than you need.

The other thing to know is that the none fine tuner Floyd does not ship with bushings and posts but with screw in posts. So you will need to buy extra bushings and posts to mount it with.

I have made a couple of threads requesting Warmoth, actually offer a rout for the none fine tuner Floyd

For none Floyds, as Cagey mentioned the Wilkinson VS100 works well and there is also the Gotoh 510 Tremolos which I prefer for none locking and none Floyd use. But neither of these will anchor the strings at the bridge end, which is why Guthrie was using the none fine tuner Floyd on a prototype. Current production Charvel GG models use a proprietary version of the none fine tuner Floyd.

There's that one Schaller with the roller saddles & the Floyd arm that's pretty nice too.
