First dye burst attempt

I’ve watched dozens of videos on applying a dye burst. They make it look so easy! I tried to dye this alder Dinky caster. I love the colors, but the execution is sloppy. I’m going to sand back a little and try to clean it up. I’m just afraid I’ll make it worse.

Great colors you got! I don't know that I would have the guts to sand it back; by the time you add the pickups/bridge/hardware the uneven-ness might be less noticeable

The wood doesn't seem to do what the mind does, as in you have intention and then there are the way the wood reacts. I personally would not sand it back, I think it looks great,, very level and smooth, you obviously have a nice shop.

Beautiful colors. What dye are you using ? If it is water based I find putting the dark on the edges a little at time so it stays wet enough to blend into the lighter color works best. You can also use a damp cloth to help blend it in. Work from the edges to the inside rather than with the grain to avoid straight lines.
