Hello !

The first sneak peaks i posted in this topic: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=20623.0
But since i actually started building today/this evening, i'll continue my posts in the "Work in progress" section.
Therefore, 2 more pics of the progress..,.

As you can see, at first I attached the copper shielding tape in the cavities.  I left the soldering part for my dad ...  :help: :binkybaby:
We ended up testing the pickups with my amp. They all seem to be wired correctly :)  :party07:

Take care,

Chris

Looks like fun!

One thing I would do is lay down something on the face of your guitar while you solder - a blob of hot lead or a hot soldering iron tip can leave a mark that you won't be rubbing out easily.  I tape down some cardboard around the top routs while I work.

Yeah I put some thick cloth or leather down. I'm also worried about resting metalwork directly on the finish.

Mary Kay + Gold + Tele.  You've got the complete set.  You win the lightning round if the headstock is reversed.

Thanks for the comments.

I actually did put a soft towel on the surface to protect the body, although not when i took the picture ;-)

Yesterday, I/we did some small things.  The wiring is all done now, so we attached the control plate to the body. We also put the bridge on.
The first "problem" i run into are the pickup control springs: they are to long ( i guess they dont match the vintage routing)  so i havo to take care of that.
also the jack-input seems not to fit the jack-input routing :-( I guess the laquer/finish of the guitar makes it a fraction of a millimeter to thick) I think i have to sand off just a little bit on the inside.

[edit] on the first pic, you can see tiny little black dots. These are markers for the pickguard ;-)

Yeah I had that problem with the jack too. I just ran a file around the inside carefully, and then took a dremel to the finish a bit further in.

Hello all,

a small update.

yesterday, I/we installed the tuners. I guess this was the most difficult part so far. It was pretty exciting getting the tuner ferrules  (..or how do you call it?)  in the neck, without damaging anything.  At first, they just didnt want to go in the pre-drilled holes. After i sanded a bit of the inside (....of the holes) the ferrules got in much easier.  (sanding very carefully of course, little by little ;-) ).  After the ferrules where installed, it was time to install/screw the tuners on. First, we lined them straight up. After placing marks, we pre-drilled them with a 1 mm bit. Then we drilled again with a 2 mm bit.  The mounting screw went straight in!
At the end everything went well, and the tuners are in place !

I discovered i forgot to order the neck mounting screws (-_- ..), so i'll order them at my local guitar shop.  My question to you more experienced guys:  Will the 44.55 MM (1/8 ")  fit,  or do i need shorter screws (34.9 mm).  ( both philips #8) I;ve got a vintage-modern neck.  I couldn;t find a clear answer on warmoth / google

Thank you! all the best,

Chris

The longer screws (44.55mm) are the standard size, the shorter ones are if you have a contoured heel.

Hello all,

Here's another update. I just drilled and installed the pickguard screws, made the pickup screws shorter so they fit just right (...they where to long) installed the strap-button screws and installed the jackinput.  To make the jack input fit, i had to sand of a bit of the inside.
The "only" thing i need to do now is put the neck on (ordered the 45mm screws, i expect them to arrive Tuesday) and put strings on and intonate/adjust action.  So i hope to  :party07: by the mid / end of the week  :headbang:

Here's another set of pics :)  Oh, and thanks for all the comments so far !!

Thank you all :)

Yesterday, I installed the neck and tone/volume knobs. Today, I put the strings on, and adjusted the action/intonation etc.

So....
