Quilt maple laminate top & back. Maple sides & neck.

Used wine colored rit dye in denatured alcohol on top & back to accent the wood figuring.  Applied, dried & sanded back three times.  Used minwax mahogony oil based dye on the sides & neck.  Applied and sanded back twice.  Applied boiled linseed oil until the wood stopped absorbing-- two liberal coats.  Using Tru-oil for the top coat.  Applied three light coats, wet sanded with 1500.  Applied a fourth coat, and the gloss is beginning to appear.  Will apply two more coats, and again wet sand with 1500.  Then two more coats and final polishing.

No, I've asked about quilted tops and they won't do it.

I ordered a GF kit, but was very disappointed in the quality.  This is RM Olson.  So far, so good-- very well put together.  Stay tuned...

Tagging this thread.  Looks pretty cool, I can't wait to hear about your building experience when it is finished.

As a side note...
Although I was disappointed in the GF kit, they offered exceptional customer service and I am using some of their hardware in the build.

will also use a good camera rather a cell phone for the finished product photos...

I know I'm impressed, although I'm pretty sure that camera isn't returning color properly. I'll be interested to see some shots in real light, or with a better camera, but even as shown it's a fine piece of work.
