I'm currently stringing my bass w D'Addario's w a 0.130" B string. And its floppy. Setup might fix the buzzing but it'll still be floppy.  I've read D'addario makes a 0.145" but its not sold in a set. Actually EXL165 matches the 145 closely across the board on string tension, even though its billed as a light top heavy bottom.

Anyone running in the 130 and up range and happy with it? Also, its a bit harder to find good prices on the singles. Got sources you like?

talk about mud flaps...

I usually use their 0.130" B strings, but they're noticeably tighter on a 35" scale Gecko. You may want to try the 0.135", which is going to feel a bit tighter.  Juststrings.com has been my usual source for single strings and custom sets.

Brooks Mays had the best price I could find, especially through Amazon. I already had some EXL170's on hand so I had to order the 105 as well. I guess it might need some file attention on the nut with a 145.

I usually run with .130's on my basses.  I've historically used Ernie Ball Nickel wounds.  Recently I've been using Circle K strings and really like their balanced sets.  You can get single strings from them in some crazy gauges too.
