Does Warmoth automatically include neck screws?

Does Warmoth automatically include neck screws when you order a body and a neck? I just assumed they would, but now that my parts are finally on their way, it dawned on me that I was probably supposed to buy them from the "Hardware" section...

Why would they include screws? First off, they would be losing money to do so. Second, how are they to know what length you need, when some bodies have thicker or thinner heels, and some of their bodies have contoured heels which require different lengths. Third, how are they to know what plating you want?

They would know the length of the screws by looking at the order, since my question was in regards to when a person buys both a body and a neck. And losing money? Please. They charge a couple of bucks (which isn't unreasonable), but the actual cost of 4 screws when Warmoth buys them in bulk is pennies.

As for why they would do it, I don't think it's all that ridiculous to assume a company would provide you with a few screws after dropping more that $1200. I guess it was just a detail that I didn't even consider because I was preoccupied with all of the other build specs, and the thought of needing to buy screws didn't even cross my mind.

They're a parts company. They don't make any assumptions about what you need or don't need, or what goes together or not. If they did, they'd have to send me a body every time I bought a neck, or tell me I'm nuts if I bought a couple standard humbuckers when the pickguard I just ordered was gonna be cut for three single coils, etc.

I do imagine if you called with a list of parts and talked to somebody as you placed the order, then asked if they saw anything missing or incompatible, they might make a suggestion. I used to do that when I built a lot of computers. Got to where I could look at a bill of materials and tell right away if something was wrong or missing.

On my first build I was told that they would not give me a complete parts list because their license agreement prevented that. But if I sent them an order and specifically asked them if they could see anything I was missing, they would tell me.

First time around it's a bit overwhelming to think of everything but the assembly process will prove instructive.

When you run a business, you don't just give away your inventory. How can you expect to stay profitable?
To you, it's just four screws, but if everyone got free screws with their order, how much would that set Warmoth back each time they placed an order with their distributors? I have no idea what sort of quantities Warmoth orders, but regardless, it's a cost they will not recuperate. Not smart from a business perspective.

Sort of a reverse salami slicing scheme. Give a few pennies here, a few pennies there, and over time, you're broke. :blob7:

I think there was a complete list of parts you needed to think about when planning a standard build that I saw online somewhere or other.
OP, you just forgot the screws, which just makes you a typical newb unless you blame Warmoth for not reading your mind, in which case get a grip!
Welcome to the addiction. Neck screws are available anywhere.

I'm not mad at Warmoth at all. I simply thought that they might be included, and I was just trying to find out if they'd be in the box on Monday. It was my own oversight as a noob, so I'll just go and get some.

Yeah, my mother told me a million times: never exaggerate!  :icon_biggrin:

I know we are

can I ask a question to the OP?

if you went into  lumber store and bought to 1x6s cut for a fence, would they include the nails?
you see it is the same thing, Warmoth's main business is bodies and necks, that is the bread and butter, what else they sell is for add on profit.

so they are selling screws for a few dollars bump in profit. That is what a business does, makes a profit. If the bottom line was to be a discount house like some of the other body and neck sellers out there that offer cookie cutter stuff with no options, then maybe they would and make money on volume, But the turtle is better than that.

hope this helped.

Boys boys!

Take it down a knotch!

And to the op- welcome!  I know you'll love your new guitar.

The neck screws are not automatically included. That is the answer to the question asked by the OP.

Thanks. That simple answer was apparently too difficult for the people of this forum, and that's all I was looking for.

Don't sweat it. Some people can be pretty harsh to noobies/people they don't know. Regardless, you're certainly welcome to post here. We really love pictures. Lots of pictures. And an assembly thread. ...did I mention pictures? Welcome to the forum dudeman. Glad to have you aboard!  :occasion14:

I don't remember the type of screws that you need to buy for the guitar neck, can one of you guys post the type?

I was trying to figure that out one time and decided it was just easier to just order them when I had another order going out to a guitar parts company. It is the finish thing that is so hard, there are a lot of unfinished screws that fit but they would rust

They're just #8x1 3/4" wood screws. Unless you need the short ones, then you'd use the 1 1/2" parts. It is as Jusatele says, though, you need to watch the finish because you can get them plain, zinc plated, chrome, black several different ways, gold, brass, etc. Then, there's oval and flat heads, slotted and phillips. What you see most often are chrome plated oval-head phillips drive #8 x 1 3/4" wood screws.
