distance between control cavity and guitar top/blower switch question

Hey I've got a flat top soloist on the way and am looking to install a suhr blower like switch into it (it'll actually be more like a middle pickup only switch)
You can get these tiny spst switches for 12c in varying button lengths and I'd like to get an idea which would be appropriate in terms of mm

Which switch? No pictures, examples, part numbers, links to cut sheets? "Tiny" is a relative term. A size 5 motor starter is tiny if you're switching transmission line potentials  :laughing7:

I think you ask the screw thread lenght ?

as the flat top wood in control cavity only around 4mm in thickness , any switch with screw thread lenght  longer than 7mm can work .

like this 2 kind I have use :

Hey cagey, i think i was thinking of something like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Latching-Tact-Tactile-Push-Button-Switch-7-x-7-x-12mm-6Pin-DIP-w-White-Cap/1657668173.html?spm=2114.search0301.4.102.kU7j2H

for a while there i think i may have confused latching with momentary, and as much as i would like to get a push button like this it may be simpler to just use a mini toggle...

How would you mount such a switch directly?

I would say that you can't.

Additionally, the Suhr Blower switch is 4PDT and is a mouser type switch mounted to a circuit board connected to an adapted superswitch. The hole for the blower switch is cut by laser through the body. It is not structurally attached to the body but to the adapted superswitch.

You could do this with an S1 switch. I mused over this a while ago. Here is the write up.

Stratamania's right. That switch is designed to be PC board mounted. It's also far too flimsy a switch to use on a guitar. Even if you devised a way to mount it, it's unlikely it would last very long.

The typical electrical hardware on a guitar/bass is substantially over-rated electrically, but is chosen for its mechanical durability.

Take a look at the link I posted perhaps you could use an S1 it will work just as easily with a single coil.

Yeah, don't despair. There's the S1, or there's only about eleventy bajillion switches out in the world to choose from. Switches are like shoes - they all do basically the same thing, but the styles and sizes are practically endless.
