Dinkycaster Inferno'Tron

Experimenting with ideas for the pickguard. I've also been looking at wiring options and having the ability to put the switch up top and have a knob below is compelling. It'd also let me put the switch in the lower horn if that ends up being the best configuration.

I like them both, slight preference towards the first. The Jaguar/jazzmaster thing doesn’t flow as well with the shape of the top horn IMHO, so slight edge to the ‘51 P thing

I think you're right. The shapes are fighting against each other.

I’m gonna be the 10 dentist and say I prefer the second pickguard. Looks more guitar-ish, and with the flake finish would be reminiscent of Belinda Butcher’s Mustang. Top one looks more bass-ish like a 50s P-Bass or a Tele Bass (would still look cool though).

I would combine them to something like this:

Did this on my phone, sry 😅

I prefer the lower horn portion and "roundness" of your second design, but I agree with the others on the Jazzmaster shape.

I freaking love the second one here. It works perfectly with the flow of the body shape.

I have been wanting to augment my double p90 butterscotch Dinkycaster with a black guard. If you end up doing that, and have the means to cut it with a beveled edge, I'll pay you to cut a second one for me!

Not kidding, cuz that look freaking amazing.

Because I'm so excited about this:

This will happen on my guitar, one way or the other.

Who cuts completely custom pickguards? Pickguardian? Quick Guards? Who? I need answers! :)
I love the mockup! I'll go ahead and create a template. I have the router bit to cut the bevel, and am going to figure out how to do all the things to make a pickguard. The only complexity is that I was going to cut the pickup hole in the pickguard on the guitar using the actual pickup route as the template. I don't have fancy CnC machines and/or templates with all the pup shapes and locations all worked out, and if that's even the slightest bit wonky it'll look terrible.

Anyway, let's collaborate!

While we’re on the topic, can you get a dummy pickguard for a rear rout body that still lets you use pickup rings? I want a build with P-Rails and Triple Shots but I hate the look of flat top bolt-on neck guitars with no Pickguard.

Can you order one like that, probably not. But you could get one cut for standard humbuckers then modify it from there to fit your pickup rings. I've cut pickguards before with a hand saw and then when close to my final dimensions did the rest with files. It's a little time consuming to do a clean job of it, but totally doable with simple tools.

I think you should be able to mount triple shots on a pickguard and still have room to adjust the pickups. Maybe not if you have the 720 mod though
