I did a bad bad thing...

I only waited a week.5 (1 + half weeks) to sand and buff the Stewart Mac gloss on my tele neck, but it turned out bee-you-tiff-all. I used the 3m papers mentioned in the other thread and then buffed with a foam pad on my power drill with Scratch X 2.0

She's coming together!! Now I gotta be brave and fit and slot my nut (not being gross, that's what its called). the guitarfetish body isn't bad but their mounting holes were #laughably wrong so I had to drill them out to like 1/4" so I could get the screws into the warmoth neck's holes. the upper horn area is pretty wack looking but whatev

Check out the gloss on this baybee gurl!

I got the reflection of my adjustable window shields on the head face

I also used the 3m paper on the frets and they are shiny but i didnt get a good pic of it

Nice! I dig the finish on that body. And, while they are a bit “stealthy”, I like the jasper dots too.

Thanks my dudes. i learned something today

bone smells udderly disgusting when you sand and or file it

I dunno, I kind of like it. Growing up my dad had a shop for making acoustic guitar pins and nuts out of fossilized walrus ivory (entirely legal, just by the by), I got used to the smell. Smells a lot like when the dentist is working on you!

If you're trying to sell it, buddy, you're doing it all wrong.

What? Next you’ll tell me that singed hair isn’t a strangely captivating aroma either?  :laughing7:

If you like that, you should smell deer antler when it's cut. I know its made of bone, but for some reason, it just smells "better"~

Speaking of odd cutting smells, what's up with red Oak? Sometimes that stuff can be absolutely raunchy.

yeah I think i'll be going for the GrapTech from here out, this bone stuff is so #foul that baseball season started early just to make the call

Seems like I heard somewhere years ago that inhaling bone dust was a Bad Thing, but I don't remember any details. I can't imagine any particulate matter would be something the lungs would appreciate, but isn't that what nostril hair is for? :laughing7:

Anyway, TUSQ works well, although if you're doing a black one, you'll have to wash your hands right away. That powder from filing/sanding is pretty fine. You'll leave persistent fingerprints all over the place.

Yeah I think i'm forever done with bone. The guitar is playing great tho so i guess I did a decent job on it. i'll maybe post a photo of it later

the Fender overwound 'deluxe drive' pups sound real good so i might also record somefin' soon
