customer service from warmoth?!

these are not for everyone. a masterpiece of engineering and design and THE single most important electric guitar ever made, an old school tele is THE most demanding electric guitar to play regarding playing technique. hehehe

I thought the same, until I played one into an AC30.

Yep, a tele through an AC30 is really the bees knees.  It's the wasp's nipples.  It's the cow's udders.  It's the .....

... well, it's not really a Les Paul now is it?  :)

Just build a regular old-school tele. Ash and maple.

in heavens name, why?!

here's a 'why not' list:

tele's are ugly
they sound skreechy
they are ugly
they sound bad
they are ugly
the headstock looks like someone ate half of it
the body looks cheap
the neck looks like it was complimentary with 3 tables from ikea.
the controls are clumsy

etc etc etc. no, never a tele.

@ marco: yeah, you're right ;) cheater :D no, be so kind, and post the pics too, whilst you're at it?  :rock-on:

Hey, turns out we all can't get 11 Warmoths, or guitars for that matter. So rather than waste our single W on a LP, we get right to it an get a tele.  :laughing7:

But Orf:

sorry Marco, I have to translate this for everyone to enjoy ;)

Why do you own so many guitars?
why do you buy a new one every month?
can you even sell them if you dont want them anymore?
can you even play at all?
why don't you buy a new amp or pick?
is warmoth kinda ok in terms of quality?
how can you buy a guitar if you can't even try it out?

sorry. can't be bothered to answer :D

I have made some adjustments in the order.

first of all. I won't recess the knobs of the pots. too much hassle. that leaves me the choice of either having a huge control route for no purpose at all, or changing the ordersheet to use the small, regular controlroute. which I did.

since I found a (reliable!) source of gotoh floyds for 100$ each, already having the big L-shaped brass block, I decided to go for wooden backplates. for ALL the cavities! trem, controls, switch. I had a budget of 250$ for each (gold) gotoh floyd, so that leaves me money to spare.

also, I've decided to make my own pickups. no customwound pickups, just my own. perhaps a hybrid from duncan, perhaps a wind of my own, don't know it yet.

and I'll use ebony pickup rings.

I am fairly sure you got it, but for the others, I was just taking the piss and repeating some of the comments that are common responses on another certain forum.

an update. the specsheet has been overviewed by me and Eric, and now its on Rob's desk. He'll overlook it, just for the final details, and then its off to the build crew! I'm having a ton of URL's in my favorite-bar of my browser, a ton of hardware, pickups, additional stuff. normally I'd get everything from warmoth. their stuff is good, but now i want it to be top notch. Best gotoh bridge I can find, and if I can't find it, I'll just find the best parts and assemble a unit myself. Same for the pots, backplates, tuners, switches, pickups, and whatnot. I won't be ordering the stuff right away, cause the build will take 2 months, and then the finishing will also take up a good month or so. I'll be shooting both in nitro, no grainfiller on the back. why not, I hear you ask? I discovered that having a superthin layer of finish makes your instrument sound better! not just a bit better, but HEAPS. I had an unfinished guitar last year, and played that with all the hardware installed. and then I shot it with some nitro, and the tone did change. less open, less airy. not a huge difference, but noticable anyway.

the headstocks will get matching topwood-veneers. nice touch? I wont use a neckplate, but recessed screws with washers instead, just to show off that lovely wood. I'm really in love with the billets I chose. the walnut backlam is really, really awesome. almost as nice as the 'supreme walnut' alembic uses.

The power of suggestion is absolutely incredible.

well, not suggestion. my ears don't lie. I hear the difference between 2 different pots. both 500k, same brand. yet, I hear the difference.

just got word: my order is in production! just 8 more weeks to go before I get 'm, and then another 6 for finishing.

gives me time to spare to get all the parts, have 4 pickups custom wound, and get 2 new amps (ceriatone HRM and ceriatone yeti).

this is the new koa top I had to choose, because the first one turned out to have a void, and turned out to be figured MAHOGANY!!!
