Custom Engraved Neckplates

Just FYI and no financial interest, but I've bought custom neckplates from these guys.  Just had 3 made, one gold and two chrome for $45 shipped. 

Each custom and different for my parts-o-caster and my two kids Strats.

Not quite the deep engraving Dangerous offers.  They do look good.

As I can't decide what I want on it, what I thought I'd do is get wait until I've taken delivery of my guitar from Warmouth.  Get it set up with the standard neck plate then decide.

Thiers is called photo engraving, it's kinda like a dot matrix printer only with a machine that has little pointed needles......

Do you guys add a finish to the plates to keep them from corroding?

I have a laser engraver at work that I was going to use to engrave mine, but it leaves metal quite raw and I want to be sure its not going to get all nasty on me if I etch it and don't finish it.

Mine started to corrode a little.  I put some oil on the sandblasted part and it stopped.  Now I have to figure out how to get rid of the part that's already oxidized...

hey dbw, try using a brass toothbrush and some tarn-x. just very gently rub it, or even use some wd40...

Would shooting it with a couple oats of lacuqer before installing it help to seal it???

Yip, just make sure it is dry, clean it with a q-tip and acetone first.....

Or ayou could even fill it with some clear drying epoxy.....
