I get this PM from Black Dog,

"I just wanted to give you a heads up.  I fell victim to a horrible case of GAS today.  I picked up a body from the show case and am having it sent your way.  I will shoot you an email when I receive conformation of shipment.  Have a great weekend..."

No more information than that, nothing! So about a 10 days later the brown truck shows up with the box and I swear it was like unwrapping a Christmas present. I opened the box and this beautiful thing pops out. I love it when anyone sends me a guitar to finish but when Bart sends me a guitar the wood is always off the charts.

Fortunately he liked a picture of one I had posted in the GAS thread that knocked me out so I'm shooting to get his to BBQ up to the same juicy goodness. This will be the BBQ Lester!

Here is what I have to work with. :o :o :o :o :o :o

Here is what I'm shooting to match.  :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

Absolutely gorgeous! I'm going to look forward to seeing that get dressed!

I can't wait to see what kind of fiery sizzling BBQ slathering goodness you lay on this Lester.  :evil4:
I know what ever you do, it will be scrumptious...
By the way, that bottle of KC Masterpiece is perfect since I am from Kansas City!
:rock-on:

It may not be summer but it was a perfect day to start cooking on this.

All prepped and ready to dye.

First coat of clear.

Second coat of clear and a side shot to enjoy this beautiful wood at a different angle. It's all ready for the cherry paste filler on the mahogany.

When you say "cherry paste filler", are you referring to the color of cherry wood, or the the color "cherry", as in red?

Dang it Tonar, you had to post this right before I am getting ready to go to bed...  At least I will have something good to dream about, if I get to sleep.
Man, you did not waste any time on getting started on this girl.
I had better get that neck ordered soon  :kewlpics: :rock-on:

Oh that is gourgeoussss!
Thanks Tonar-Sensei! I'm watchin this with great interest. I have a body I want to try this on later this year. :guitarplayer2:

Yeah, that target looks like a housefire at flashover. Mesmerizing but it makes me want to put water on it.

I am fully aware about the whole "Crossroads" thing - go down, meet the Devil, hammer out some contractual points  - he gets you soul for eternal damnation and you get to... be a rock star, make love to 50,000 women, be a mailman, walk on the moon, whatever floats your boat. What I can't figure out is how a friggin' TREE gets down there, and what can it possibly have to offer the devil in exchange for a face like that.  :icon_scratch: I mean, I know that those trees are some some sneaky buggers, always standing around STARING at me and shit - "Ho Ho Ho! I'm gonna live to be 150 years old!" And sure, when the very last human keels over dead, there's sure to be a tree there to drop a pine cone on his ass, but still. Or maybe, they just quilt up for fun? Sure are secretive about it... I'll bet spalting itches like hell.
