Conan

You do understand that after he said all of that, he actually refused to retire and ended up saying agreeing to screw over not just Conan, but Jimmy Fallon and Carson Daly so that he could stay on the air?  You get it, right?  He didn't honor his word at all.

This isn't directed at anyone in particular but I just have to say:  get a grip, these are TV shows that we are talking about here.  NBC is evil and anyone who works with them gets what they deserve.

Hey man, I hate celebrities.  I really do.  There is hardly a one of em I would have lunch with let alone look up to.  There are only 3 living famous people I really truly love:  Andrew Bird, Stuart Murdoch, and Conan O'Brien.  Conan is smart, hardworking, hilarious, generous, he plays guitar and he is an awkward Irish geek like me.  If someone like him can make it in tv, anyone can make it.  When he walked away from NBC, he showed that he could stand up for himself and everyone else that has ever been pissed off at the rat bastard network execs and say "I'm not going to be a part of the destruction of a good show".  And he did it at the expense of losing his life long dream job.  That's why I'm gonna go out tomorrow and show my support for him.  If we don't let them know how angry we are when they pull stupid unfair bs like this, they're just going to keep on treating the viewers and the talent a little worse every year until all we have left are a bunch of crappy reality shows.

hannaugh, I respect you for taking a stand for what you believe in.  FWIW, I think Conan did the right thing by not participating in what he believes is the destruction of the Tonight Show.  If I were him, I wouldn't either.  In the end, however, it's just TV and life won't be any poorer if NBC crashes and burns or just produces reality shows.

You do understand that they're all under contract right? Jay isn't screwing anybody. He's legally obligated to do what NBC says as instructed in his contract, and stands to gain nothing (you really think he likes how terrible his reputation has gotten?) Conan, also under contract, stands to gain everything. NBC has to buy out his contract out entirely meaning that Conan will be coming into a lot of money soon. And the only terms involved are that Conan can't say anything at all about NBC until 7 months from now when his contract was set to expire from the beginning. So basically Conan gets a huge reputation boost, millions of dollars, and a 7 month vacation, while Jay gets bashed and taunted on a show that was his to begin with, and that he gave up peacefully less than a year ago.

BS.  Jay shouldn't have pretended to be all gracious about it.  If he didn't want to retire, he should have stood up to them 6 years ago and made it clear that that wasn't what he to them and the public that that's not what he wanted.  Even if they can force him to leave the show, pretending like it was something he wanted was a dick move.  He had 6 years to find something else to do.  He's 60, he's had the show for 17 years, and he hasn't done anything interesting with it for the past 10.  Conan had all kinds of new things he wanted to do because it was his big dream.  Jay just wants to keep it forever because his ego is huge.  He didn't even thank Johnny Carson when he took over the show, and he refused to ever let anyone be a guest host like Johnny Carson used to.  The man should have had the guts to look at this situation and call it a day, but he won't.

We looked, and didn't see ourselves on the show.  But I'm in the clip of the day on the website.  I run past the camera after Conan.  It was so cool/insane/hilarious.  We got to say hi to Conan, LaBamba, Max, Andy, and Deon Cole came out and high fived all of us!  Then Conan bought all 400 (or however many people were there) of us pizza.

Hi, Hannah.

What a terrible website, I have no idea where to find that clip. Or do I have to watch the whole episode?

It's the clip on this page: http://www.tonightshowwithconanobrien.com/insider/2010/01/18/get-your-rally-on/
