Cleaning a raw neck and protecting it

Hi,

I have a raw Gecko-5 neck made from Bubinga (Ziricote fretboard). What's the best way to clean it? The back of the neck feels rough (I always wash my hands prior to playing). I tried rubbing it down with a dry cloth but it still seems somewhat coarse.

Also, Is there anything I need to apply to prevent it from moisture or dryness?

Thanks

Joz

A low impact approach to this might be synthetic steel wool - that might knock down some of the raised grain a little bit.  You might also try fine sandpaper.

I use denatured alcohol to pull up any dirt or sawdust from wood.

When you're done, you can put some oil on it, but Bubinga doesn't seem to take much oil.
